She had to have been hired for this gig. I would be very surprised to find out that she came because she was friends with the cast. Didn't you notice how hard she worked on her outfit? The wig was a special touch.

I agree with the majority of posts here that show-casing Paris' photos prior to the vast majority of the cast was insulting, not only to the cast, but to the viewers.
Notice we are not on the OurList-Paris website.
I usually don't care about any type of celeb media...hell, we are all busy trying to manage our lives; but I do believe that being someone revolutionary in the lesbian community, that the L word has some responsibilities. When I watch, I am reminded there are so many "just like me," who can live and love w/o bigotry, or the approval of the semi-mass society. But then you throw Paris in? What a crock. I fell like I felt when I found out Santa isn't real...betrayed.

First of all, who cares who is with whom? It is that individuals personal decision to be with her. Secondly, what does it matter that these pictures are mainly with Paris Hilton. I don't like the woman either, but I wasn't concentrating on her while looking at them either. Sheesh people, concentrate on that sexy Kate leave Paris out of it. Whomever made the comment about the media giving Paris enough publicity is right, so stop hatin', let the media do what they do. Their gonna whether you like it or not. Just keep an eye on the ones in the picture that matters. It shouldn't matter whether someone is gay or not, the fact that they support the show and what it stands for is all that matters!!

Funny...all I saw was Kate and Paris exchanging laughs and game cards, not spit or pussy juice! It's true, we all interpret differently. The fact that this PR did exactly what it was suppose to do, which was make chatter and money...both Kate and Paris is lol'ing all the way to the bank.

Whether Kate slept with her or not is absolutely not the point. Personally, this is none of my concern.
What I'm having a hard time with is the fact that she was invited in the first place and the fact that she was mentioned on this site as if she was valuable person or as if her presence did honor to the show.
Couldn't they invit Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet or Asia Argento ?

What if Paris sought out to be a part of this event? Should WE, or the staff and celebs and show biz moguls behind this show, turn her away - and any publicity of anyone celebrating this event? And who knows, maybe other people were invited and they decided NOT to come...
And then again, maybe she was invited by Kate herself...

"Her rash" that she claimed she got from the bed sheets in prison. Oddly enough, there's lots of rumors that it was a herpes outbreak, but who's to say what it was or wasn't? I just think Paris has a pretty bad reputation and I don't think their lol'ing would make much of a difference in "the bank" since she's the butt of all jokes and no one takes her seriously at all anymore. But of course, anyone that watched Simple Life never took her seriously anyway.

Don't know, I never watched that stuff. I never heard of her "rash" from prison. I don't know much of all the gossip details of the stars. Don't know...don't care. But, I know it's her name that sells and her presence that gets paid - she's lucrative for media showing up at events.
I take it for what it is. And if this boosts the ratings for this year and we get another season, it's all good.

What the frick and frack??
What disturbs me the most about the reaction to this particular blog entry is the rush to judgement as to Paris Hilton being at this particular event and/or her motives behind it (or OurChart and The L Word's motives for that matter). Who cares? Maybe Paris watches the show...who knows...maybe she even likes the show. The almost vicious reactions by women here (women, who, by the way, should understand more than most how it feels to be spoken about in a way that points to exclusion) bothers me. I could give a rat's ass about what Paris Hilton does, or, for that matter, who she does. But to get nasty about the fact that she had appeared at this particular L Word function is a waste of energy better used in more important endeavors.
By the way...if it's not really Paris...who cares??

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There are plenty of straight women who watch the show and if Paris is a fan, more power to her. Hollywood is an extremely small community so everybody pretty much knows everybody. All Paris is doing is going to a party and enjoying herself. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't really understand the hatred towards the girl.

Can I just say that I was soooo PRO L WORD until I saw Paris at the premiere. WOW!!! At first I was thinking...okay...if Paris is there that means MORE photo ops for the stars of the L Word...you know...with PAPPARAZZO and all. But then I thought...IS THIS BIA BIA EVEN LESBIAN? Or bisexual? I'm sorry but the girl has only been seen with, you know, every thing with a penis for the last few years now. I am all about everyone supporting everyone, but for some reason I (as well as my friends) feel as though The L Word has sold out or stooped to some bizarro world low by showcasing someone like her. We like to show strong, sexy, inspirational, ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLED, and non-Paris H. women. Yes I am being a hater right now and I think many others would agree. Haven't those other media features allowed her to abuse them enough? Why do we have to deal with her?

I have posted a blog entry where I discuss in detail all the reasons why I disliked so much this post and some users' comments. In my humble opinion, the way the "Paris Hilton's presence at the Premiere Party" news was treated here breaks in many senses what I thought were some "implicit" principles of this site.

Kate is a co-owner of this site, and if this is strictly PR of the show and the night, which it is, and if Paris was paid - contracted - for this PR for the event, then maybe the title was thought out and approved.
I do view these still as blogs, which is more of an opinion...but those coming from the site editor, I do see more as being non-partial and more close to news status.
These kind of blogs are PR for the show...and that's it. It's all fluff right now. There are different sections to this site...Lword content and user content.
I think we need more user content to help balance the overflow of Lword content...but that's just my opinion...
