I think it would be an excellent idea to save certain key Lword stage props. And I'm sure you could raise a huge amount of money for some excellent causes.
Did anything happen during the 4 months I stayed away from the board in order not to be spoiled ? :-) Took me a while -yeah, I know you already heard the foreigner's complain not being able to watch the show at the same time than the US viewers- but just finished S5, and I'm SO happy I didn't know anything about it, le plaisir n'en était que plus grand (since you seem to like some of those strange language quotes ;-)).
I guess you all are getting ready to shoot (S6, not the viewers, although .... *wink* oh yeah I know, there will always be unsatisfied people *sigh* ). So first, I hope you'll pass my hello to all cast and crew, congratulations on fab job you've all done, you've made many people happy (well, me, to begin with). S5 was great fun, just short, as usual ... and of course it's gonna be shorter, because short wasn't short enough I guess !
Since, Ilene, you're the first person bringing up a TV show talking, displaying lesbians, that has already been running for 5 years, all over that planet, (even in Indonsia, lez girls KNOW about the LWord, and yes, they get illegal copies, but they KNOW it exists), would you consider another international premiere ? What about pressuring the distributors to allow international distribution thus allowing all fans from all over the world to watch the show at the very same moment ? Thus not having to hide ourselves during 4 months in order not to be spoiled by any information (to keep pleasure complete .... oui, oui, assez hédoniste en effet !) and ending up downloading illegally out of despair (I can't possibly wait until they show it here, in July 2009 !!!!!!). There has to be a technical way to allow a paying "LWord subscription" on ShowTime or whatever distributor is ready to do this. I could even apply for the job, as I'm a computer technician -although I 'm sure there are enough competent computer programmers in the US to come up with a solution !!!
Oh yeah, I promise, i'll buy S5, S6 .... DVDs once they are released in my country, too. Just to support the show. But distributors don't deserve it, yet. Spread the word ! :) Thanks

I think the cultural/political impact of your show would be a perfect subject for Oprah.
The timing would be perfect in this election year with Oprah backing Obama. An appearance could also be timed to promote the final season.
I don't think the time for this has passed. You now have experience and perspective from doing the show to bring to the discussion. (And a GLAAD award after tomorrow!!)

Why don't you and Jennifer join forces, or rather bank accounts and start a production company? You could both produce lesbian themed films. I know there is a need and want out there for good lesbian films and I figure that a lot of times they don't get made because big movie companies wont back them. Granted I don't know all the in's and out's of the movie industery but if you both join forces I'm sure you could make some great films. Just look at what happened with "Boys Don't Cry" and "Monster", the buget wasn't huge but both ended up making a lot of money and winning oscars.

Do you know where the season 6 Premier(S) will be held? If you don't know yet, do you know when it will be announced. It was terrific having the whole cast in LA in January. I am hoping you would consider a larger place. By a larger place I mean somewhere other than the Factory. Being the last season, I think a lot of fans would like to attend. Actually, I hope it isn't the last season, but I guess that's the way we have to look at it for now.

I know that you sometimes read these so I thought this was my best shot to say Thank You to you and to have you read it. In the JB forum we were just talking about mainstream TV not showing The L Word and how some of us miss out if we don't have cable. I live in the UK and I get annoyed because the presence of gay men on my mainstream channels is very much more evident than lesbians. Channel 4 one of our mainstream channels showed all episodes of all series of "Queer As Folk" and yet not one episode of "The L Word" as of yet.I find it really offensive its like saying that being gay and a man is acceptable in mainstream society and being a lesbian isn't. It is also the same on some of our major soaps here. In one there is a long running gay man and to my knowledge there has never been a lesbian and in the other they addressed the whole lesbian thing for like two episodes and that was it. Its insulting thank god for this show though because without it there would be nothing and for that I will always be grateful to you. You made me realise that even if for other reasons I am not able to have the life I want at the moment, the way I want to live my life is not shameful and you will never know how grateful I am for that so Thank You x

I have to say Bravo on the success of TLW and Our Chart! Although the show we all know and love is coming to an end, it comforts me to know how many people in this world you and the cast and crew have touched and supported! I appreciate that although it's just a show, you have managed to touch almost every aspect of a real life in the lesbian and gay community! In almost every episode (as I probably speak for others as well) there is always something I can relate to and get more understanding on it!
I have followed since day 1 and I've seen many interviews with the cast and crew with all of the same questions and answers! My question in utmost honesty requested is how are you and the cast/crew touched by knowing everyday you help one more struggled woman in any situation feel stronger about themselves and how everyday you all inspire so many people and support so many lives and love! What is the impact on you! I mean obviously you are proud and happy but whats the strongest feeling of yours about it! Well to not beat around the bush..... What became known to you that was unknown and unexpected??!

Hi Ilene, the DVDs for the show so far have been rather disappointing in the extras department. I thoroughly enjoyed the commentaries you included in the first 2 seasons, and I was wondering if it's possible to have more of that in future DVDs. Commentaries by cast and crew (for more than just one or two episodes), bloopers, interviews with cast/crew, etc. It's easy to just sit back and enjoy the show on the TV screen and forget just how much goes behind the scenes to enable that pretty package to unfold seamlessly before us. Tell us about all the technical details, I'm sure we mere mortals will be interested as hell. Thanks.

Who exactly picked Alice Smith's "Dream" for the Tibette Kiss? It was just perfect - enhanced an already beautiful and intense scene and just worked so well with the emotion and depth behind the moment.
I've since been listening to this song and loving it - reminds me of that Tibette Kiss every damn time (and makes me want to cry).
So thank you to whoever was responsible for that awesomeness.
And a big shoutout to Jennifer and Laurel, who ROCKED that scene with their ridiculous beauty and profound emotion. I hope they know just how much it meant to us, and that many of us strictly watch the show for their amazing performances week after week.
