They posted an extended interview with Rose Rollins, if anyone hasn't seen it, she mentions Mia, and what a great job she does with the character. Hopefully we will get an extended version of Mia's podcast aswell.

Very cute interview, and so true. I really can't imagine any other actress being able to pull off the Jenny character and make her half as entertaining and interesting. I remember seeing an interview with KM where she was asked the same question and she also picked Jenny as the other TLW character she'd like to play.
And I have to agree with RR and ALW on one more thing - Ryan Adams, Damien Rice and Ben Harper would make a "Totally Awesome" supergroup.
It can't be said enough how
It can't be said enough how talented Mia is, and how tough her character must be to play. J. Beals get's rave reviews for her role as bette, and I don't think she is even half as versatile as Mia. Not that I think J.Beals is not as good of an actress, I just think she isn't willing to go as far into the role and be completely fearless with her acting as Mia has been. The emmy petition for laurel holloman was laughable, she's talented, but I can't pick 1 episode that I thought she was deserving of an emmy. The only person I consider emmy worthy is Mia, but shoot what do I know.
From some of the interviews
From some of the interviews, I get the impression that much of the cast is kind of in awe of MK as an actress. I think Beals even made a comment on Mia's fearlessness as an actress in the commentary on the S1 DVDs. She said something about MK's presence forcing everyone else to up the level of their play. She really does play all of Jenny's complexities and never seems to shy away from showing the character's imperfections. I think Armani-wearing-Alpha Bette is wish fulfillment for a lot of viewers, but I find her much less interesting as a character. And I've loved LH's performances the past couple of seasons, but Tina still isn't that complex a character.

AJ has this almost
AJ has this almost invincible goddess-like strength about her that I guess most people find hope in. She plays those anti-hero types extremely well but I would never picture her as a "Jenny Schecter" or anyone that is slightly crippled be it emotionally or physically. I like AJ's work but I'm interested more in MK's work because of her ability to show her character's weaknesses freely on screen. MK is a fucking fearless actress. I find that enviable, but at the same time her courage as an artist absolutely earns my respect. (and viewership...could you imagine the show without MK as Jenny?)

I absolutely agree with you, i mean some said that AJ is a fearless actress, by her previous work in Gia, Girl interrupted, i thought that but it was a long ago, before that i had the pleasure of seeing MK work as "Jenny Schecter" yes there's something very special abut her, i mean she owns that role, i can't picture any other actress in her place, is for that kind of things that i found so wrong that other actress not as capable as her, got some great roles.. I guess is about time, and we will see more of MK's work in the big screen..

DUDE, TOTALLY.
Kate and Mia's interaction on screen was so believable that they have crazy fans begging online for more. I think Kate French plays Niki Stevens very well. She has this innocent girlish charm yet a coy teasing way about her that radiates off of her on screen. It matches perfectly with Jenny's hardened bitchy diva side.

Dude, TOTALLY.
There are very few actresses in the world who are courageous enough to show weakness on screen and Mia Kirshner is definitely one of those select few. Her work as Jenny shows she never backs down from a challenge, as an artist. For some darker scenes many actresses default to crying on cue or making their voices quiver to convey sadness, but its clear that Kirshner does not take the lazy way out. Instead, she relies on her own true reactions. Yes it may be read as a Sad Scene and yes, her eyes may tear, but if Jenny is feeling angry about the situation, she is FUCKING angry and she gets through her line without "Acting" it. Her acting is so natural that it isn't acting, its genuinely being in the moment. This makes her a more formidable actress than many A list movie stars. I would love to see Kirshner in a Aronofsky or Ang Lee film. She has that anti-hero edge to her that so far, has only been seen from Jolie.
IC, make an L Word movie.

Well Jessie, i can only agree with you on everything, from when you talked about the amazing chemistry of MK/KF to the way that you excellent described MK acting abilities, and how special she is, when you compare her to the other actresses, like a said to you before, its about time, i mean Naomi watts was "discover" until she made MD, i think the big break of Mk, is about to come, now that the show is finished, she will have a lot of time to make some auditions..It would be a dream to me to see her work with Aranosfky she's just perfect for the kind of movies that he made, also Lynch.
And about the lword movie, i think is really coming, i mean IC hinted about it, so is quite possible.
She asked me if I would go gay for MK though...
My reply was,

Auditioning is a pain in the ass, and I'm betting MK doesn't like it. What actor does? lol. Omg it really is, i just remember MD and the part that Naomi W. played.. Also the interview of MK, when she talked about how awful for her it was living in LA. waited in some hotel, to make an audition, and things really didn't worked the way that she expected.
Yeah i hope so too, i think Mk should hire a good agent, to help her to make some good connections, she has the talent and the beauty to take an important spot in the movie industry.

Lots of auditions don't work out. It really depends what the casting people want. If they want purple elephants and a green lion, a blue umbrella, an orange ipod and red thong show up to audition, they'll keep auditioning people until they get at least a purple hippo. So then the green lion and everyone else has to keep auditioning till they fit the profile. I think its ridiculous how some actors that CANT act for sh*t get huge roles and the ones who can act, get small roles before someone wakes up and hires them for a huge role.

Most great artists are "Isolated and timid" and they are isolated because of their striking differences. Look at MK now. I bet all her old blondey classmates don't get to wear Chloe or Balenciaga everyday to work. She gets her wardrobe for Jenny hand-picked. Can you imagine some of the swag they have from the show?...grins*
IC is right about her being a challenging leading lady. When I saw Requiem for a Dream I thought she would have been great for 'Marion'. As for a bigger film, its difficult to place MK in a role where they would usually automatically call upon AJ for. They both have such a dark quality about them that makes them so watchable. Their differences from the normal Blond blue eyed actress make them lethal onscreen and much more interesting. I agree with you, I think its high time Kirshner was in a film like 'There Will Be Blood' or a sundance film that has a lot of balls. I keep picturing her as playing a journalist in one of those political movies like babel or whatever. Journalist who discovers something so secretive and protected, the corrupt officials and fbi or cia and whoever start going BOURNE ULTIMATUM on her. She runs and utilizes her contacts to help her. one betrays her, she escapes etc.. Think of it, she could play with guns, use her womanly charms to kick ass...throw in a childhood trauma or some kind of huge character flaw and BAM.
hm. Note to self. Better get writing. lol jk jk.

Mk is so special that she deserves a role written specially for her, for someone who knows her range, ability, and since you like to write and you're a big fan of her..I was thinking..;)

That is true about the BD movie. I love Hilary Swank's work besides her role in the BD, but I agree, MK stole the show. heheh TINA EYE ROLL!!!

2. funding would be impossible
3. No studio would ever take a chance on that script
4. by the time I get through school and finish a script and all the revisions and stuff... Realistically, it would take at least 7 years to get the film made.

There has to be something worthwhile out there for MK to do. I just can't see her doing romantic comedies, she has the potential to obliterate A list actors on screen, just have to find the right role... maybe a part in Grafton's novel or something

MK does seem to be one of those actors who has been right on the brink of breaking into really big leading roles for years. I would love to see her work with directors like Cuaron, Aronofsky, Lynch and Lee (Ang or Spike). Would be great to see her get a leading role in a political thriller, especially if it's something that's really complex, both politically and emotionally. She's so great at playing flawed characters, and it would be nice to see her in a cerebral anti-hero role. We know from Mad City that she can certainly play a journalist, but it would be nice to see her playing a journalist in a meatier, more complex project.
I was talking to someone recently about how much we'd love to see someone write a really great screenplay for a political drama based on something like Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine." Cuaron would be the natural choice to direct something like that since he's already shot two documentary shorts with Klein, and it would be fascinating to see Kirshner with a big role in a project like that. But considering the terrible box office numbers on most of the movies based on Iraq and the War on Terror, who knows how hard it would be to get major financing for any sort of project like that now.

I think we all agree that these are the kind of roles that really suits her, i would love to see her work in a film with those directors, and an political thriller.. It comes to my mind this picture "The interpreter", have both things a very well made movie, and still commercial success.. Mia can do an excellent job in a role like that, also like you said cerebral anti-hero role, i'm dying to see her again in a part like Mandy(24) srly, she can give AJ and all these heroines leading ladies of Hollywood a run for their money.

Season Six Wish List for Jenny
Okay, bumping up a question from page 2 to get more posters' input.
Putting aside the whole shipper question, what direction would everyone like to see the writers take Jenny in for S6? Should they develop the Jenny/Tina friendship and show them taking back their movie and maybe even becoming the new Spielberg and Katzenberg? Do you want to see a more stable, grounded, mature Jenny, or do you just love her Diva Director antics too much to lose her to adulthood? Or maybe something in between? What other characters would you like to see her teamed with (platonically!) in S6? Should we have more Jenny/Alice scenes? Or maybe you've always wanted to see them develop more of a Jenny/Helena friendship...or maybe that's just me...

I live for that crazy eccentric woman now(it's my crack) I would definitely like to see more jenny and alice moments. They both are excellent comedic actresses, and season 4 had some great antagonistic moments. I guess most, if not all of us would like jenny/tina to team up and whoop some crazy stalker ass(adele), while of course looking fabolous.

First and foremost I want to see Jenny be that healthy, independent and strong human being that she has finally started to become. She does need love and protection, but whether or not we see that this remaining season is debatable...
After all the hardships she has endured over her lifetime, she deserves to be happy. Secondly, I would love to see Jenny's relationship with Tina grow because they have great potential in the film world. Their differences offset and complement each other so well and I think they would be like a female version of the Coen brothers or something. Helena would be a great addition to the Tina-Jenny dynamic.

I don't think you'll have to give up freebasing Jenny in S6, Automan.;) I can't imagine Jenny without some of her essential eccentricities. I personally would kind of like to see her be a bit more grounded and mature, and I would love to see her continue growing into her role as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. A "William, I think you missed a spot on my Manolo Blahnik's - keep licking" force to be reckoned with.

I actually thought she was pretty healthy and strong in S3 before the fame went to her head, so maybe we'll see a S3/S5 hybrid Jenny in S6 - 50-percent more sweetness and maturity, but still with frequent bursts of Divaness...

A hybrid of jenny in season 3 and 5 would make for some excellent television. With only 8 episodes I'm a bit worried that Ilene is going to focus more on bette & tina's love reunion, since there seems to be a much larger majority of supporters. I really hope the rest of the cast doesn't take a backseat to bette and tina and their continous tilt a whirl relationship.
