There will be an L Word spin-off. That’s right, you read it right. Our big boss, Ilene Chaiken, certainly has many tricks up her sleeve and this is definitely one of them. Showtime’s president Bob Greenblatt has just announced that there will be a spin-off starring one of the original cast. Who that may be has yet to be revealed. Fear not lesbians, our stories will continue to be told! It’s rumored that the finale of Season 6 will end with an open-ended component, in which the new spin-off will continue online. This leaves the door open for Showtime to order the new series for its cable programming.
That’s all I can tell you for now, because frankly we don’t know any more. Even Greenblatt doesn’t know more than that. He’s quoted as saying "We're still forming it. I'm sure I have a million e-mails already from loyal viewers about it, but we're still in the process of figuring it out."
On that bit of great news, enjoy your weekend. And congratulate yourselves for being a tenacious and loyal fan base. Our drama lives on!

I think it'[s ridiculous to tease people with that kind of announcement. Alice might be able to pull it off, but I thought she wanted to be out and about with her band? I'm not interested in serial cheater Shane.
Anyway, I suppose there are many possibilitires, but I would like to see the L Word go out on a high note. I would like to see it open ended for the possibility of a movie involving the core cast.

I think Jenny is hilarious, but without the rest of the cast to balance her obnoxiousness and insanity... I dunno. In her defense I will say that where I used to loathe the ever-loving poo out of her, now I merely love to hate her.

yestarday, in our offices of the Fnac, in Paris, France, I was just telling two of my colleagues that there'd be a spin-off and that Shane should be the one...

do you happen to know if there's a fnac in biarritz? i'm here all summer and not used to not being able to find one (live in paris). i'm trying to get a french charger for the battery of my digital camera (which i bought in the states where it's cheaper) and while i've seen where they're supposed to be in paris fnacs, they never seem to be in stock, so i was hoping i could find one while i'm here....

Actually, though I think as far as starting another authentic story they should go with Max. In a lot of ways he has already been kept separate from the rest of the cast, and there are so many opportunities, emotional and political. Max represents the part of the queer community most at risk. And yes, the risks are grave, even today. Perhaps especially today.
