Solving mysteries. I’ve just added that to the special skills section on my resume, along with making Nancy Drew my alternate alias. It’s official. I’m taking on the task of solving the mystery of
The L Word spin-off series, and while I do so, I would like to pretend I’m Nancy Drew if that’s okay with all of you.
I’m thinking a new, revised, revamped N. Drew. Maybe she just goes by Drew now, and if she’s tipsy it’s Nancy, Miss Drew if you’re nasty. This is quarter-life-Nancy. This is creditors-are-calling-Nancy. She solves real mysteries, like “The Haunted Hangover,” and “The Curse of the Abnormal Pap.”
Let’s face it. If Nancy Drew were in Vancouver at
The L Word production office with all of this buzz flying around about a new series, what would she do? Exactly. So from this day forth, I’m wearing a WWND (What Would Nancy Do) bracelet, a pleated skirt three inches too short, and a knapsack full of Knob Hill everyday to work. Oh, and maybe a magnifying glass, for snooping through Ilene’s desk. And a bloodhound. I might need a bloodhound.
Check out my first day sleuthing on the job as N. Drew.

I think that the spin-off
I think that the spin-off will probably be Jenny because that's the way Ilene has always done it but I don't know why because not that many people even likes Jenny's character. I definitely want it to be Bette and Tina, not one or the other because that would just be disapointing. I will probably not watch the spin-off because even though it will be a part of the L word it just wont be the same. This cast and Bette and Tina as a couple really is what just brings this show together and has carried it along as long as it has. Even if we all watch it I'm sure we will feel that it's just not the same. Let's face it The L Word has spoiled us all. I dont think that I have ever or will ever see another show with a cast that just goes together like they do or a couple with the amazing chemistry that Bette and Tina have. Showtime, just get ready for my cancelation after this season.
hhaha
please not jenny i would like totly stop watching the l word if its jenny , who get the spin off:D shane all the way ffs........ or alice.
Move Shane to NY!!!!!!!!!!
Move Shane to NY!!!!!!!!!!
Shane's too sweet for NY,
Shane's too sweet for NY, but I could see her in Bean Town, or better yet, on the North Shore. She could hole up in some quaint almost hippy community with an artistic edge and learn photography. Say, Anasquam. Great beaches and she is good in the water.

I would like to know how it panned out with Peggy and the Canadian Marriage clerk. Peggy kind of reminds me of my Grammie; cut the crap and get down to the logic of the thing, with a nice side order of, "There's no harm in just doing what you feel now and then."

spin off?
As much as I love the idea of seeing the characters, any of them, carry on, I'm really not into the whole idea of a spin-off. Taking a group character out of the group context after the end of the show... I think it's fair to say it's risky, and I'd prefer to see a new scenary, with new characters. But, if there was a spin-off, I think it would be interesting to see one of the characters that are not part of the main cast, or have left the show. I don't really have a sugestion for it, but I think it would be better to develop a new character that hasn't gained the spotlight before than messing with characters that we've already watched for six years. So, I'm talking Carmen, Lara, anyone, even Gaby Deveaux. It could be more interesting :)
Only one possible choice....if it's to be successful
If it's just to have a show, then it could be any of the characters...but if the purpose is to have a successful show, then it would have to be Tina or Bette or both. It's like having a spin off of Seinfeld without Seinfeld. I believe if it was not for the Tina and Bette love story, TLW would not have been as successful. Yes, the other characters where good, but they did not carry the show at all. Personally, if there is a spin-off without JB, LH or both.....I probably won't care to watch. I am only looking forward to this spin-off to watch Tina or Bette but hopefully both. I know there are alot of Shane fans who may not agree with me, but all you have to do is look at the conventions. I heard very little about all the conventions until Laurel Holloman and Jennifer Beals decided to do a convention together, now it's like this HUGE thing that everyone is talking about. Even me, I would never have flown to England to see a convention, but now look I am shoveling out several thousand dollars to go out there with my partner just to see Jennifer and Laurel. IC knows who's the BIG players are on the show, and it's Laurel and Jennifer together. If they can afford the salaries of these two actresses and both these ladies are willing to do the show....then the spin off would have to be of Jennifer or Laurel or both. Now that show would be a success like the L Word was and is.
Spoken like a true TiBetter!
I'm just sayin'.....
I think if I had to watch a
I think if I had to watch a spin off about jenny I would be incredibly dissapointed. Everyone gets an opinion but my vote is for shane. trying to sort out her shit and get shay back. Probably just because I can VERY mildly relate to her. Still... its whatev. Whether I like it or not I'll be watching so get on it Drew.

Hate to say it but....
....I personally think its either Jenny's story or Alice's due to the fact that both are versatile characters and you can take their storylines anywhere from here....but remains to be seen lol.

IC slamming door... LMAO! just too damn funny!! Cassie, you've got to go bug her some more ;-)
Jenny would be great for TLW spin-off!
Just my thoughts on the matter...
I doubt that it's LH or JB. As much as I love Alice, I don't think I could watch a show about just her & I don't think it's LH anyway because of her music career. I would never watch a Jenny spin-off...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. The only spin-off that is worth watching is Shane's storyline. KM has been screwed out of so much with Shanes character & it would be awesome to see her go off somewhere & fiz her shit. I was actually convinced that Shane had changed with Molly but then IC pulled the same storyline out & had Shane do the obvious, let someone go not because she wanted to, but because someone convinced her she wasn't good enough. I think Shane with Molly is the best I've seen Shane in the entire series. It would be awesome for her to go off with Molly, but that's just wishful thinking on my part!!

Cassie
keep going with you detective work, you rock! LMAO
IC closing the door on your face? what she´s drinking? bolivian tea?

spinoff??
Seriously...what's up with a spinoff? If they're going to carry on like that then why not just go on with the l word??
I totally think it's going to be Bette though. Jennifer Beals is definitely the most involved actress with the show. I bet she and Ilene came up with the concept. Didn't they say that the end of the final season is going to have an open-ended component? I think that's going to be about Bette and Tina. Marlee Matlin was cast again for the final season...why would they bring Jodi back if things are really done with her and Bette? Jodi really serves no purpose on the show unless there's still some unfinished business with her and Bette.
Spinoff??
well Jodi MM is back for only 2 episodes she said it herself in an interview that she give in The edge a section in the Boston Herald that was when she did this dancing with the stars thing!!!!! an open ending IC can chance it any time because she says one thing and does the other#### and Bette without Tina is like a Bird without wings and vice versa they breath eachother and they have the chemistry that no one else have !!!!!!!!! a spinoff i personely think it will not a succes the core cast they are so close and sublime !!!!! look at friends 10 seasons it was sublme and funny after this ended there was a spinoff that called joey did not know how long it lasted but it was awfull and not funny at all !!!!!!!! you see together the Lword core cast is sublime only 1 is not!!!!!
I personally want it to be Bette but...
as much as i hate to say this i think its gonna be jenny coz she's been the window to all of this....................

Alice should definitely be the character to go on!
Let's just hope..

Spin-Off - Why It Should Be Tibette
Why are so many of us excited and hopeful about a possible spin-off of TLW? Forget about the tricky wording of “one actress” for the moment. (Most of us think of Tibette as one anyway.) We don’t know for sure who it will be, but I do know the majority of us want it to be Tibette. Why? Many reasons. This couple touched and grabbed our hearts from the opening scene of Season 1 (“Bette, come here”) and kept us coming back for more, not only week after week, but season after season. They kept us talking about the show all year long on many web sites. Even after they broke up, not once, but twice, even after Season 3 (we won't go into that) we kept coming back to TLW. Why? Because of Bette and Tina's story. I am not in any way taking anything away from the other wonderful and talented actresses on the show. Just the opposite – I applaud them. Let’s face it, Tibette is what kept the majority of the fans hooked. We were mesmerized by them. We wanted them back together and we weren’t going to be happy until they were.
The show was/is a phenomenon and historical breakthrough. Why? Because its entertaining? Because of its portrayal of the lesbian lifestyle in West Hollywood? Because gay and lesbian stories were finally being told? Because we were finally being represented in a positive way by an array of talented and beautiful actresses? Of course. We were fascinated by all the characters and their stories, but mostly we were - and still are - fascinated with Bette and Tina. We could feel their magical pull towards each other; feel their strong connection and their endless love for one another. No matter what, we knew they belonged together. It was and is a great love story. It was felt immediately and is still felt after all these years. We don’t want it to end. We don't want TLW to end. We want - and need - this couple to go on and continue telling our stories in a positive way.
TLW showed straight people that gays and lesbians are loving, human beings with the same wishes and desires as anyone else – they fall deeply in love, want to be loved, to get married, to have families, to be accepted. It bridged a huge gap between many straight and gays, between parents and their children. It brought many parents to accept and understand their gay children. It gave some of us the courage to finally come out to our friends and family. I’m one of them.
The chemistry between Jennifer and Laurel was evident from the very beginning, and continues to this day. Without a doubt, they have “it”, whatever “it” is, and it explodes whenever they are on the screen. They have always done an excellent job of portraying their characters. This is one of the many reasons I’m convinced they are the ones who have the best shot to make a success of a spin-off. They have chemistry; they have the biggest fan base, the most stories yet to be told, so many different directions to go, and all in portraying lesbians in a positive fashion. The "cheating" storyline has to be over and done with. Been there, done that. It's time to move on to tell other stories of a happily married lesbian couple, raising a family, the struggles they go thru, the good and bad times. How many stories could be told if Tibette moved away from gay-friendly West Hollywood? There are so many directions to take here.
I’m sure Showtime and Ilene want the spin-off to be a success. If they read this and other boards, they can see by far the majority of fans want a Tibette spin-off. I’m asking all of you to join us in our Tibette spin-off campaign, to make our voices heard by both Showtime and Ilene. We’ve made a postcard that you can download and send in to Showtime and Ilene. Go to www.tibette.com , and print out the postcard. The addresses are provided. There’s also a poll we put up so you can vote for who you want to see in the spin-off. As of this writing, it is overwhelmingly Tibette, with Bette running second. Both the poll and the postcard download are on the first page of the site.
We want TLW to continue. It's job isn't over yet. There's too much work yet to be done and many stories yet to be told. Bette and Tina are the best candidates for a successful spin-off and for the continuation of positive lesbian stories. Jennifer and Laurel are the best representatives for us. They are well respected and liked in both the gay and straight communities.

HOT HOT HOLLOMAN
you said it... the spin off would only make it... if its a TIBETTE spinoff... anyone else... save your money showtime...
To anyone who doubts....
The importance of this show to our community or doesn't realize the social relevence that it has had, I would like to point a particular comment from the Save TLW petition. Betty Cora, a parent of a gay daughter writes:
"I received this petition in an email from my daughter and wanted to comment. My daughter is a beautiful, intelligent and strong girl who happens to be gay. When she came out to my husband and I, it was difficult to know how to react. Nothing changed with the love we had but there were many concerns about her life and her future. She introduced us to The L Word as a way of opening up communication and start a process of us understanding that she was just fine with her life. This show made such a difference. We could see that lesbian women have the same ups and downs, make mistakes, build relationships and friendships, have families...most things are just the same as straight people. I'm happy that she is the person she is and I'm glad that this show was something that we could share. It brought us all closer and I hate to see it ending when it is still so powerful, entertaining and important."
This is only one of many such comments talking about how this show has bridged gaps or changed how the straight community perceives us. It's wonderful for a writer to create an entertaining show that endures many seasons on TV, but it is truly amazing for a writer to create a show that is entertaining and a social legacy.
Wow! Thanks Toby!
That was so cool to read!!!
Listen
Miss Drew if you're nasty, you have to infiltrate TLW system and deliver a message from the people that is of the most significance: "Season 7 of TLW is a must". . . this message will self-destruct in 5 seconds. ;-)
Cute
Real cute.
It's simple ...
Our Chart is a big clue in and of its self. Which character of TLW developed the concept and drew up the original chart? Which character, no matter how freaky she interacts with the other characters, or who she puts offside is still beloved by them and most fans because her adorable quotient is off the scale? Which actress pulls off both comedic and drama scenes real well? Simple. It's Alice played by Leisha.
lol
That was funny!!! But why an spin-off? why not another season?
LAURA F.
because this show's concept
because this show's concept is coming to an end. This show, about the dynamics of this group of friends, is coming to an end. The window into this group is coming to an end.
The spin-off is going to take us away from this group of friends...

Exactly
and it doesn't matter who they choose to spin-off, or whether or not it is a combination of characters, there is such a wealth of stories left to be told.
I love the L Word, but I am looking forward to seeing where the spin off is head (minus is Max spin-off, then I might have to shoot myself in the foot :)).
I just want the spin-off to
I just want the spin-off to be strong enough to stand alone. It shouldn't even be able to be compared.
I just know these stories, of this group of friends is coming to an end - and apparently either a new person is going to send us off onto the spin-off...or there is going to be a major fall out with a character we all ready know. Or they're moving back to Britain. Or Texas. Or down town.

You could be right, but in
You could be right, but in that case is better to move on to a new show, another story. I know there's still much to said about some characters of TLW but a spin-off may not be the better way of tell that, just another season.
LAURA F.
You're right, a spin-off is
You're right, a spin-off is a new show, another story - it's not the same as where it was born.
Frasier is a spin-off of Cheers...
Though, I didn't really watch either, the shows were different enough to be their own. I've seen spin-offs, like Lavern & Shirley, come from characters that are more like a guest. Their not part of the main character (ensemble).
And it's one of the reasons why I said that Tasha would be perfect, is because she was here as Alice's girlfriend ...an antagonist, but not. Her character had great purpose, and we witnessed it...but something that i've been noticing is we don't see her beyond Alice's world, outside of that military DA;DT storyline.
The ensemble has their world, beyond the ensemble, but their social social world, is each other. And that is the construct of the Lword...the social world and social structure of these characters within the ensemble.
When Tasha and Al break-up, Tasha will go back to her own social structure - the social structure that Alice is not wanting to participate in, and we see Tasha reconnecting with.
It's a whole new show, because people pass through social structures all the time - they can stay, or they stay just long enough and then they move on....and that is the spin-off. The move on.
Stories can spin off and spin off making the interconnections of constantly moving on, like a new novel.
it really can go on forever...
