favorite female artist?

Hey everyone,
I saw the art post but i want to expand on that. I'm student teaching this semester art ed and in general i like to make diverse fun lessons for the kids and try to push away from doing the same staight white boring male artists. I have lessons that include frida, jaune Quick-to-see-smith, shirin neshat, amer sher-gil, cyndy sherman, barbara kruger, etc but i'm always on the look out for new cutting edge female artists?

So who's your favorite female artist.

Also, i'm trying to publish this book called Women Coloring the World which is an educational coloring book of 45 internationally famous women from the twentieth century. Check out my site for more info on the book, i'd love feedback its http://www.jenniferbraverman.com

Sylvia Plachy is an awesome female artist. I especially love her collection of photographs "Goings on About Town" that she took for the New Yorker. She captures the motion of intimate, quirky moments in a city beautifully.

frida kalo is a great artist , of course she is dead but i like her work . and she was bisexual LOL this is not for her orientation sexual that I appreciate her work , this is just that her work is very special .

Althought I really love prints,

I think Elizabeth Catlett is a great printer.

im in the art world,and its really cool that bette is a curator,well i learnd a lot from the show some artist like kandinski and gaugain,and do most of the artist during those periods where male.frida-she has a sad story and a crazy life(i do consider her as a bi-sexual)i watched the movie.but the art is great,you can see the sadness in her paintings.

Melissa Etheridge. Hands down.

I have loved this artist since I was in 7th grade... Her concert when I was in 10th grade has been the BEST experience of my life!

there are too many brilliant female artists out there..
but for now..
that's the name that pops into my head for female artist...in the music category anyways... :)

it doesn't seem like there's a lot of female printmakers, i mean like in the olden days. anyhow, if i think of any more female artist i'll let you know.
