Close Shaves III

Welcome to the third installment of Team Guinea Pig's shaving product reviews;
Name: Circushandler

Product reviewed: Gillette Venus Breeze 2-in-1 Shaver

Other products used with it:
Coconut oil (For my crotch — I was too scared to risk Precious.)

Body hair situation: I am not hairless, but I’m not hairy either. If I let my hair grow, it’s pretty sparse but dark. As for the crotch area, I only leave a triangle on front as evidence of puberty (as if my breasts aren’t enough), but the rest is gone. I tend to shave the pits and arms. (Even though I have no hair there, I just can’t help myself.)

First impression: Oooh, purple. I was doubtful of not needing any extra moisturizer so I only put coconut oil on my truly sensitive areas, but didn’t on the rest.

Gillette Venus Breeze 2-in-1 Shaver

Rating:
--Packaging - A. Hello, PURPLE!
--Texture - B. It could be grippier like the earlier model of the Venus that vibrates so the handle has less of a chance of slipping. This got a B because I did like the coating of the built-in shaving gel. It was thick like cactus slime and it did an excellent job of coating before the blades hit. I didn’t even need lotion on the legs after.
--Scent - A++. It has a light scent and it reminded me of the fabric softener my Abuelita used to do laundry.
--Ease of use - A. I only had to put the blade to the area of my skin once and I really think I could do my bikini line without the coconut oil next time.
--Effectiveness - A. Quick and easy.
--Overall je ne sais quoi A. What can I say? I’m a believer. It saves me a lot of time, which I need to chase a little guy.

Would you recommend this product to anyone? If so, to whom?

I’d recommend it to anyone who has no time and is scared of the more painful methods of hair removal.

What should potential users of this product know?
The handle can get a little slippery and don’t run the blade too many times. It’s really sharp so it’ll really rash your skin.

Additional comments:
I’ve been a user of the Venus shavers ever since they first came out because they’ve had the best blades. The blades are exactly like the male counterpart of the Mach 5 but with a much better handle and padding around the blades. This version was a lot better than Schick’s built-in gel because their gel didn’t even come out. This one consistently coats and it appears to have enough to where you simply toss the blade after it runs out. The blades do last a long time since I am able to shave everything several times before I decide to toss it. This is by far my favorite model in spite of the handle because it gives the quickest and most efficient shave. The smell didn’t make me want to die either, but made me smile since it reminded me of fabric softener. :)

I wanted to add that Circushandler has since reported that she is actually switching to this razor from her current one (which is actually the vibrating one reviewed here last week). Now that's an endorsement!

Also! Last week's reviewer, Lucy, has discovered that all of the Gillette women's razor blades are interchangeable — money saver, folks!

Next week we start discussing hair ripping out... bet you can't wait.

Until then, as always, stay beautiful,

This is the razor I have for

This is the razor I have for in between waxes and it is really good! Though, I have to admit I'm yet to try it without shaving cream 'cause I have fairly sensitive skin. I'll give it a go next time though!

Also, on a side note, I went away for a weekend with a gay male friend of mine and forgot my razor and decided 20minutes before we were going out that I needed to shave my legs... So being that there was no razors to be found in the hotel room and it was like 11pm I decided to improvise and use my friends electric shaver... You know the ones with the round whirring things? Never ever ever try this ladies. I have fine blonde hair and it was barely worth shaving at the time anyway, and man... it was a bad idea. No hair was removed but it seemed to whir off a whole lot of skin and leave me red and irritated =( Not fun! Haha. Not to mention my friend STILL teases me about it.

I actually have sensitive

I actually have sensitive skin to the point where I can't use shaving cream because they dry me out and have too many fragrances, which is why I use coconut oil, but this razor wasn't bad on my skin! I just moisturize after and that's it.

And ew at electric shavers. Those turn my skin into sand paper :/
