I remember once Portia said - after she came out, people told her, "but you don't look gay." I think many people here are dubious about their relationship because Lindsay doesn't fit into that "image", has had boyfriends - and she grew up in the public eye because she was a child star since 12. I think she was confused about her sexuality initially, so she tried many men. It's not unique in this community. Afterall, straight people are in the majority, it seems to be the right thing to do. That's why she was so messed up years back.

I don't think Lindsay is dating Sam for publicity or "pulling an Anne Heche" - there're so many more famous guys out there for her, and I'm sooo glad that she found the courage to be with the one she loves. Her previous car accident while under influence was also apparently because she was upset over Sam too - go google it.

Well, lesbians come in all shapes and sizes. Gay or bi, I think it so happens that Lindsay fell in love with Sam (did you see their photos together? They look so happy. Really happy, not posed.) Even if they break up later on, it's Hollywood / life. People break up and get together all the time. Do we not forget that both Ellen and Portia had exes prior to getting married?

I hope they'll continue to be happy, working and drug free. :)

Why do people call Lohan a lesbian just because of her relationship with Ronson? I'm not trying to say she's not because what the hell do I know...but there is also the whole, I don't know, bisexuality thing.

A part of me thinks their relationship is great because I imagine it's lending a supporting hand to girls struggling with their sexuality by telling them, hey, it's okay to feel this way.
Another part of me is just reminded of that stupid song "I kissed a girl"...which would be alright if it wasn't for that line that changes the whole thing "...I hope my boyfriend don't mind it".
I think there's a lot of positive progression in mainstream media with alternative lifestyles... But I'm feeling like they're really just running with Lohan's rebellious side.

most of the response seems to be pretty supportive, which is awesome! but some of these comments are just another confirmation that us women are our own worst enemies. we as lesbians love to push each other down when it feels like our version of what a 'lesbian' is gets distorted instead of lifting someone up for being honest and proud to have a relationship with someone of the same sex. get over it! isn't it OUR argument that you can't choose who you love???? than why would we persecute someone like anne heche for finding love with a man after being with a woman? think about that before you pour your negativity into another comment.

I hope their public status helps some younger queer kids accept who are they are and find strength. It does seem like a real relationship and I hope they stay happy with each other.

Years ago phone messages between the two of them were leaked. This has been going on for years! They met through Mean Girls when Lindsay must have been about 17? Samantha did the song "Built This Way" (which I love) for the soundtrack.

People say really awful comments about Samantha's appearance on the gossip sites - and ask "Why can't Lindsay at least be with a 'hot' girl" (i.e. Femme?!). Reminds me that we have a long way to go ...

I think Samantha's a cutie! and I've always loved Lindsay (even during the bad times).
