I don't know if she's returning; nothing's been said, as far as I know. But even though I doubt she'll be coming back, I can say right now that there sure are a lot of us who want her to.
And I agree with you. I want closure too, but only for that chapter in their lives, not for Sharmen altogether. And Shane fighting for her love would be perfection. I think the only way Shane and Carmen can get together would be if Shane really earned it. (damn, I'm posting Sharmen stuff in the Carmen thread and Carmen stuff in the Sharmen thread. *shakes head* I guess I just want it all.)

I watched Kate and Clementine's segment in Questions Anyone. Clementine asked her if she had any control over Shane, what would she have done. Kate said that she would have liked to see Shane go after Carmen and try to get her back. I also read interviews with Kate on how she would have liked some closure with Sarah/Carmen. I think Kate always wanted that to happen but it's not how IC wrote it.
I'm also a HUGE Sharmen fan but I really don't think Sarah will be back for the last season of TLW. She is already filming her second season on Life which will air on October. Also, TLW is already filming the last season so there could be no way that Sarah could possibly be back. But, Sharmen will always be the hottest couple in TLW.

If Sarah doesn't come back in the final season... I think IC is going for the movie with Shane and Carmen’s love story. Those two (in my opinion) are the success of the Show, the salt and pepper, the last Coca Cola in the desert. They are the perfect couple in TV shows. I never, ever have seen so much chemistry in a couples than theirs... I’m talking about straight couples. This is my first lesbian scene, show (what ever) that I have ever seen, and is after Sarah’s line “I cheated on you” since then I’m Sharmen’s fan “#TOO”

Wow, Shane must really mean it. While digging through Alice's trash (don't ask) I read a note written by Shane that said that ever since Carmen's departure, she's felt like she's just been in a series of empty, emotionally unfulfilling, character-eroding relationships that don't even begin to enrich her life the way her relationship with Carmen did.
