About six months ago, Staceyann Chin wrote a blog called "On Fisting and Being Afraid to Do Things." Her blog was inquisitive, revealing, eloquent and everything Staceyann’s blogs always are. I love her willingness to write about emotions and sex. And, in fact, I remember the moment that she talked about writing sex bogs for OurChart and all I could think was… how perfect.

I was surprised by the reactions to that blog. So many comments were simply a 'hell-the-fuck-no' reaction to the thought of a fist anywhere near sex. I’d always thought fisting was de rigueur in dyke sex. I know dykes that think fisting is synonymous with fucking and if you ask them what the hell three fingers is, they will say “foreplay.”

And then I remember I spent my entire queer life in San Francisco and that’s where I learned to fuck. You come out in San Francisco and someone hands you a gallon jug of lube, invites you to the knife play workshop, the women’s BDSM group, the weekly sex party and you are so busy fucking you never really have time to ponder it. (Bang, can I get a witness?)

Moon asked me to write something about the how-to on fisting back when Stacyann’s blog went up, but I was mid-break-up and not so much in the mood. My sex life is pretty awesome right now, thanks for asking. So maybe it’s time I started the fisting conversation back up on OurChart. Sex writing is how I’ve made a living for the past 10 years.
