I come across all definitions of feminism on a regular basis. I would like for people on ourchart to take a second to reply to this post and tell me what feminism means specifically to you.
I'm going to go a little against the grain. My experience of feminism has been very negative. For example Sara Palin*...in europe, we are hearing that she is the ultimate feminist; strong, opinionated, sucessful, down to earth...etc. If she is the ultimate woman, then im out: there is no way that i aspire to be like her. in every interview i have heard her speak in she has displayed just how clueless, and actually stupid, she is. if the dithering McCain passed away after being elected, and she was bumped up to the presidents seat, america would have a serious problem on its hands. the world would TOTALLY stop takeing them seriously, and thats a scary thought.
My personal feelings about feminism, my own definition if you will, is that a woman feels empowered in whatever she is doing; and that everyone respects her for what she is doing. This could mean that she runs her home incredibly well, takes pride in rearing her children and takeing care of her husband. Like the mother in Mary Poppins, towards the end when she goes out to march for the right to vote. Her husband supports her, because she is herself empowered. He doesnt tell her to sit back down to her needlework, and stop with that silly carry on. That is Feminism.
I dont think a woman has to be the head of her company, the leader of her party, the top of her class...wearing a suit etc, to be a feminist. I also dont think that all men must be buried asap because they are evil...although many are.
I think the beauty of feminism is that it can be as subtle or as loud as the woman herself is. I am a feminist in my own right because i have never allowed myself to feel that i am not equal to a man.
i hope this helps?

For me, feminism is to stand above the man, believing that they are all lower, and push the macho ideals with the imposition of feminists.
I think it should be a balance, although the society is more in favor of men, and women have to be heard.
It should not have either of the two extremes.
Bye
PS: Sorry if you don`t understand me, my english is bad.

UMMMMMMMMM
To me it means women don't live the subservient role of traditional women. We are more the equals to men in all aspects of our lives.
