Body Work 108

Get ready to work those legs because in this week's episode of Body Work, I'm moving away from the machines and hitting the mat to show you some target exercises for the outer thigh, inner thigh and hamstrings. Check it out!

Special thanks to Ron Zalko Total Body Fitness and Yoga in Vancouver for allowing us to film in their spectacular gym.

One lil question

Leah,

I actually do a similar exercise with the ball between my legs, but only really used it for my lower abdominals. I love the sounds of also using it for my adductors. Only question is, is it okay to let your legs go lower than the 45 degree angle? I've been lowering my legs until just before the ball touches the floor. Thanks again! Your new ideas get me pumped to change up my routine!

Lowering the ball...

Lowering the ball all the way down isn't suggested for most people as it will put pressure into the lower back. As you lower the ball slowly see where it is that your back begins to arch and that is where you should be stopping. This is different for everyone depending on the strength of their abs.

Hope that helps!

I always considered myself in great shape

until I followed this workout video this morning. My thighs and abs are a little achy. No pain no gain, right?

Caliente.

Loved the outfit. ;-)

Thank you~

Leah's blog

I'm a bit new to the site, just exploring it, and my goodness, Leah - the most delightful personal trainer I've ever seen in my life. Wow. How lovely.

I did have an exercise ball, but I swear on all that is holy, no-one could sell me the right pump to inflate it. Not the manufacturers of the ball, nor the shop that sold it to be. No point having an exercise ball still in the packet, right? So I had to send it back. Was incredibly, incredibly frustrating.

thats strange

i have never heard of place not selling the pump...thats too bad! A foot pump (used for inflatable mattresses would work...you know the camping type). Hope you have better luck with finding one!

Doh...

Maybe this should have been obvious... but first time I went to a general one place sells all type organisation where they have a range of exercise equipment. I'm not the sportiest so didn't fancy venturing into the local fitness emporium amongst the uber toned masses. From where the whole ball without pump debacle bagan.

This time? I googled for a an exercise ball *and* pump.

And found one.

*shakes head* If only I'd thought of it before... Now hopefully it will get here in one piece, everything working, fingers crossed, then I can get cracking. You have inspired to get back on it!

Especially because an old flame I met today said I looked "well", and we all knows what that means... rosy cheeked... fully filled out... not lacking in body fat...

Bring on more of them exercises for tightening up those abs.

x.

I blew mine up like a

I blew mine up like a balloon... took time and breath, but works the same :)

Thank you! I needed this as

Thank you! I needed this as I don't have time to go to the gym but I have a ball like this at home... never found how to use it till now! I'm gonna give it a try right away! So thanks a bunch!

no problem :)

The great thing about having an exercise ball is that you can workout at home or in the office. It doesn't take long and there are soo many exercises for every body part! Have fun with it!

:)

Yeah! Do you know of any website that give more example of work to do with a ball? I'd like to find more that work out the abs, like the last one you introduced.,
I tried the exercises you showed in the video and I feel it it's great! I have some troubles stopping the ball from rolling around with the second exercises though.

Hi Leah, your exercises are

Hi Leah, your exercises are great and as soon as i see them i would love to go and make them in practice but...my gym is a shithole! They don't have medical balls or enough space to exercise without a specialized machines.

But anyways, i enjoy seeing you doing them...and i surely like your voice! Hope you don't get offended for this ;)
