Well folks, the show has come to a close and subsequently, so has the Sunday Night Roundup. But don't fret, my fellow music geeks — my iTunes runneth over with music, my social calendar is jam-packed with blog-worthy shows and I have at least 20 texts filled with musical suggestions from my SXSW reporter that still need my attention. And if life couldn’t get any better, once she’s out of the studio, Elizabeth Ziff is going to take some time out with yours truly to talk shop on what it’s like to score The L Word! Oh and did I mention I recently sat down with The Cliks and made us a little video interview? You'll see it here soon.
Now that we’ve wiped away the tears, there’s a British invasion of a different kind a-brewing. This time around, instead of matching suits and ties and stylish haircuts, the UK is sending over its cutest darlings in adorable dresses. And when I say “darlings,” I mean complete bad-asses who talk like sailors and sleep with them too! Tonight’s episode featured music by a UK threesome, The Pipettes. Picture The Supremes or The Chiffons but with a shot of Jack Daniels.
The Pipettes
Speaking of music of yesteryear, I went to a party Saturday night with one of my favorites. She was dreading attending, as the club promised us an evening filled with Silverlake’s finest Hipsters and Scenesters — and well, I was wearing boot cut jeans, so there you have it. But we decided to throw caution to the wind, and found our way in.
After a few friendly nods and warm hugs, we hit the dance floor! Surprisingly, not a single note from Justice or New Young Pony Club or anything else of that nature could be heard. Instead, I found myself dancing to The Shangri-Las, James Brown, The Troggs and The Angels. I realized then the affinity I have with '50s and '60s pop music and the reason that modern-day songs like "Pull Shapes" by The Pipettes make me want to strap on my dancing shoes. It's just music that grooves!
Something else that’ll make you groove is another SXSW discovery from the UK, The Ting Tings. My SXSW reporter sent a ripped recording from their live show via text at 1am. I was a little upset and ignored the message for the time being…mainly because I couldn’t really make anything out. When are we going to learn that sticking your phone in the air while drunk and hitting "record" and "send" does not make for a happy recipient? Actually, who am I to judge? It’s my M.O. Upon her return, she sent an IM with a link to their MySpace page and begged me to play "That’s Not My Name." With a drum beat reminiscent of "Hey Mickey," I couldn’t help but move my bum in my office chair.
I also received a message from OurChart member Loveshtoned with a link to their track "Great DJ." With top musical gurus pointing me in the Ting Ting direction, I couldn’t help but download!
Good stuff, love it...
Thanks for the music overall this season, always a surprise always good....

She just received an award in France for her album. I checked it out, I completely adopted it!
Thanks for sorting out a good part of the music of the world.
Here something your may like too:
Remember Vanessa Paradis “Joe le taxi”? Well, I guess she is like good wine: getting better with age. Check out her last album “DivinIdylle”. Quite nice. http://youtube.com/watch?v=F-wS7QhL2Y8&feature=related
I think any music selection is important to a scene. I've found that past episodes of TLW have been filled with more of today's tunes which I'm not always familiar with. This is why I was most pleasantly surprised with the choice of the 70's Isaac Hayes' "Walk on By" song used in the Bette/Tina slow dance scene in the final episode. The TLW audience cuts across all ages and being age 52 there's always a real connection when I hear music that I've grown up with. I wonder if the TLW crew have thought about using more older songs from the 60's & 70's in future TLW episodes? The Isaac Hayes tune fit so comfortably for the Bette/Tina dance scene and I know as a regular OC user that many users thought the same. The scene was melting everyone's heart and the song choice added that much more flavor to the scene. I have nothing against today's music but I'd also like to think that music cuts across all decades and that it can be appreciated by all ages. In short, more hits from the 60's & 70's including the British Invasion songs. I hope you will make this suggestion to Elizabeth Ziff or whoever is in charge of music selection for the show.

Ewwwww yeah, baby! I'm strappin' 'em on - let's dance!...and I am here for all your "runneth over" material!
You absolutely lucky dog you for the sit down with Elizabeth Ziff! Listen, would you please pass on to her the following comment I previously posted?!?! I'd certainly appreciate it -

Your timing for this link was perfect – I got to watch it during OC site maintenance! Oh, I love éclairs – my birthday is in July – please, remember the éclairs and candles!
The Three brought up a point I have got to address – haven’t for fear of despair – but, I’m going to go ahead and face the music ---------
I am going to have some serious withdrawals for the music and soundtrack of TLW after it ends! My music world has been rocked on a weekly basis by EZ and her posse. She has chosen fitting songs, but I think her best work has been in the scoring; e.g. the music behind the “Mafia Meeting” at SheBar and Adelle’s first directing scene “fade in, fade out!” ……and patooty to anyone who criticizes the Betty theme song – whether you like it or not – will you ever forget it? Ummmmm!
