Old School Pride

In keeping with all things Pride I'd like to share this amazing video made by the LGBT Center of New York. It contains interviews with men and women who were around during the Stonewall Riots — the groundbreaking individuals of our LGBT movement. The videos contain never before seen personal archival footage of the first Christopher Street Gay Liberation Day March — the first "Pride" March.

Personal History

Grace,
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful resource. For those who were not around, or in many cases were simply not aware of the issues at that time, these glimpses into personal histories add a context for greater appreciation of the communities we relish today.

Great thanks to all of you gentle folk for keeping our hearts, spirits, and minds nourished.

Taem?

Thanks Grace!

YAY for those brave elders. Thank you so much for bringing in this perspective.

It's also great that cities have centers for LGBT persons to break down isolation and get support. Let's not overlook the fact that freedoms and rights have been won in many places, but in just as many (or maybe more) LGBT people are still living in isolation, afraid to congregate and afraid to come out for valid reasons. Isolation and loneliness are part of the deal for LGBT people in conservative or rural settings.

During this pride season, I want to shout out to those who carry on with courage despite living in isolation in unsafe communities.

I am forever grateful to you, the center and WNET!

Know our history folks, know your history!
I'm just sayin'.....

Wow! That's what I'm looking at right now

With my wife going through all sorts of medical changes lately, I've really been thinking about what we will and will not be able to do for each other as we age. We're blessed in that so far our partner status has not been questioned, nor has it been an issue, but this could change should one of us become less alert and unable to make decisions for herself, even temporarily.

This, for me, is the one enducement for gay marriage. Other than that, I'm pretty happy as I am.

There's a thin line...

Hey Meffle!!

Happy Pride to you and the little woman! Have a cocktail at Ruby's for me this weekend. Miss u all!!!
