Chief Technology Officer


SCOPE OF POSITION

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will have overall responsibility of bringing vision and leadership to the product development process at OurChart.com. In addition, they will be responsible for managing the technology team and implementing best practices for the department. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated history of successfully managing people, web development projects and processes, and a hands-on, proactive style that will deliver solutions and support to meet business objectives.

At a high level, the position will be responsible for:

  • Leading the executive team in the development of a comprehensive technology strategy.
  • Working closely with the executive team on product development strategy and then leading the development and implementation of technology that aligns with the business strategy.
  • Directly managing the technology team and being responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the status of all projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets and milestones are met.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of new technologies to enhance the company's offerings and department operations, and developing recommendations accordingly.
  • Providing direction and leadership for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures within the technology group.
  • Creating and maintaining external vendor relationships that can be used for project outsourcing as well as business and technical partnering.
  • Managing scalability issues, strategy and implementation.
  • Participating as a key member of the senior management team.
  • Navigating the available resources and collaborating with the technology team of our partners at Showtime and CBS.

QUALIFICATIONS / PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES/ TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
  • A firm understanding and ability to execute viral growth
  • A commitment to improving user experience through smart technology implementation.
  • A firm understanding of open source development.
  • Experience with Drupal
  • Understanding of the online social networking space and available user features and widgets
  • Experience with Unix/Linux based environments is a must.
  • A strong commitment to building quality products.
  • Decisiveness, possessing a "big picture" perspective, but willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done without being overly hierarchical. If necessary, commits to long hours of work to reach goals including night and weekends if necessary.
  • Experience with and an appreciation for a start-up environment.
  • Passion and appreciation for the LGBT community and our online social network and entertainment needs

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Programming Languages: PHP
  • Internet / Web Development: HTML/CSS, ASP, XML, AJAX
  • Web / Application Servers: Apache
  • Relational Databases: MySQL
  • Data Mining / Reporting: Urchin, Google Analytics
  • Misc.: Experience with ad servers, DART
