i think bette looks pretty good with her new hair. it's more classy-looking. And of course, classy is always good.
I wish shane woud cut her hair though. She looked hottest in season 2 and i thought that some of her best work was in that season as well.. and that is my favorite season too :P

She is beautiful always, but I have to join in the collective "What the F*CK did you do to Bette's hair?" here. You have to try REALLY hard to uglify Bette, but it seems that's what the style team is dead-set on doing lately. Okay, you got rid of the cufflinks and powersuits and replaced them with matronly ruffle blouses...but do NOT touch the SEX hair. Please.

Some of us might seem like we're overreacting, but it's only because it just came as a shock and Bette's hotness has f*cked with our minds. :) Of course, Bette's appeal is not only about hair and wardrobe (love the character, love Jennifer's acting), but it's definitely part of the fun.

Please, I beg of you, leave Jennifer's natural long curls alone. She looks 10 years older than she is with the new 'do. Bring back Bette's look from seasons 1 and 2 (obviously updated) PLEASE!

With all this commotion over hair, I thought I'd have a little fun with the topic.

First, I love Bette's new do. I agree that I think it is very becoming and sexy, while making her look more her age. It's important to show that these characters are not fixed in time, but they're growing in their environment in the same way we are in ours. Changes happen.

Tina's hair is also incredible. I'm most excited about her hair because I felt that her hair looked crazy all last season w/ the exception of 3 scenes.

Anyway, so since we're all going gonzo over the topic, here's my list of the best hair moments for the characters Bette and Tina over the past 4 seasons.

Side Note: Love Alice's hair (finally). I never did before. Shane, well, is Shane. Still super cool. Helena's always had nice hair to me. Jenny, well, the boycut was cute, but I think I like her w/ more hair.

Season 1:

Bette -
The hairdo (HD) in the epi where she's going to N.Y. to be honored. Blown out look is nice on her from time to time (not sure how it'll work w/ her newly shortened locks, but it was nice in this epi).

The up HD when she comes home early to be w/ Tina, but T has plans to go to the gym. This is a cute up do that does not make her look old and plain like the up do at the funeral. That up do at her dad's funeral made her look like a Puritan.

Tina -
Loved some of the up dos she wore in the 1st season, like when she is leaving early in the morning to make it to court for the Center where she now works. Her skirt is super cute in that scene too and was very form flattering.

Her cute up do when Bette comes home triumphant from her meeting w/ board members after Peggy saves her *ss.

The curly short HD she wears in the scene where Bette is about to face-off w/ Faye and Bette is going over her possible responses.

Season Two:

Bette -
Epi 7 is my absolute fav as far as B's hair goes. It was the first scene B has (I think) when she is talking to the guy that now is over fundraising and they're sorta sparring w/ each other. Her hair is soooo nice. It's like curled but the curls are tighter and draw her hair up some and it's super cute (including that super nice suit she rocks).

Up do in the scene where she's at the museum and Helena informs her that the CAC has hired the guy who takes over the fundraising functions for the Center. Very sophisticated and classy look for her. Super nice! Loved that outfit too! This is in contrast to that big hair up do she's wearing towards the end of season 4 where she's also sporting the infamous blouse.

Her HD when she is trying to go with Tina to her check up and they are stopped by Helena.

Tina -
Her hair when she has tea w/ Bette and she invites her to her check-up. It was a rough year for this character's hair.

Season 3:

Bette - Rough year for this character's hair, but maybe the 1st episode and the epi where she's leaving for that retreat. Oh, she also looks great at Dana's funeral and in the scene after it when she's carrying Angie and formally meeting Henry for the first time.

Tina -
I liked all off the longer hair scenes in this season. They're were probably some short HD moments I liked, but I was completely excited over her short HD. Her hair is cutest to me when it is short & curly, med length (like almost shoulder length), or long (hair is perfect looking in the footage of the upcoming season).

Season 4:

Bette - her hair gets a little weird looking at moments during this season to me. However, I do love her hair in most of the early epis. I like her hair a lot when Tina confronts her over Angie's school apps in her office at the school. I also love the black outfits they both have on in the scene.

Her hair in the last epi when Tina helps her put together a plan to win Jodi back.

Tina -
Her hair also left a lot to be desired (for me) in this season. The exceptions are her HDs in the beforementioned Angie's school apps confrontation scene w/ Bette. That was probably her hands down best hair look in all of the seasons combined in my opinion. It looked like a top designer from LA cut her hair and it was gorgeous!!

Her hair at the end (like the last epi).

Season 5:

The entire cast - So far so good!

This just goes to show you that hair, make-up, and wardrobe play essential roles in how we view a character or relate to them w/in their universe as a whole (or w/in a scene, a moment in time in the universe). It can add to or it can take away from a character's believability, roundedness, or effectiveness in projecting how they feel and are reacting to the stimuli surrounding them. And, if truly mangled, can flat out be a distraction to everything else going on in the scene.

Here's hoping that the upcoming season achieves excellence across the board!!
