And That Is A Wrap!

Filming of Season 5 of The L Word is officially complete! We wrapped out the season this year with eight days of shooting in Los Angeles. After some scorching 90 degree days at the beginning, our final shot went off at a chilly 4 AM last Thursday, up in the Hollywood Hills.
As most of you know, we shoot almost the entire season in Vancouver from about June to October. Vancouver doubles pretty well for LA when we need it to, but for those classic exterior shots we have to get the real deal. Over the past five seasons, our LA shoots have given us some of the most memorable L Word moments...Tina and Helena at the Chateau Marmont pool, Alice and Dana laying down the "Rules of Unattraction" in Runyon Canyon, Shane crashing Cherie's jag on the freeway, Bette and Tina ordering the SAME salad at Toast (that actually wasn't scripted!).
A lot of you have been asking how this year's LA shoot went so OurChart dropped by set to catch some of the action. Check out the video below to see our amazing crew at work and hear from the cast on what it's like to be shooting on their home turf. (And yes, that's me in the director's chair...)

Tina season 6
I think Tina's dad should come looking for her... He could be her long lost father. Tina's mother left Tina's dad before she was born. The father was a cheater and not a very nice man. Tina's mother told tina that her father died before she was born. Her mother decided that she could not care for Tina at a young age, so her grandparents raised her, but they passed away when Tina was in her late teens. Recently Tina's mother died leaving behind a note for Tina's dad, saying you have a daughter named Tina who lives in West LA. Tina's father shows up at their house one day. Bette answers the door, who may I ask are you, the man says I am looking for Tina. Tina comes to the door and the man tells Tina I am your father. Tina stands there in SHOCKED with tears running down her face!! Belieiving this is some cruel joke, asks the man to leave. He shows Tina the letter her mother left behind. Tina crys and looks at Bette, Bette ask the gentleman to come in. He tells Tina the whole story. For awhile she's pushes the man away, but as time goes on Bette stands by Tina's side and convinces her to except her father. Since Bette lost her father, she becomes a great support system for Tina. Eventually Tina gives in, and her father becomes a big part of Tina's,Bette's, and Angelica's life.
new actresses will like to see
Will love to see Eva Mendez on the show, I think she likes girls a little anyway from what I read....but she would do wonders for the show. Madeline Stowe could be pretty sexy on the show to....but as a femme!

Has anyone thought of having a "spin off" of the LWord with Tibette and Angelica? There's a lot of storylines in that little world.....

Ok,first off,I really hope Kate is atleast bisexual if not a lesbian because she really needs to be into girls like I am lol. Second off,I just want to share how big of a fan I am of the show. I have all the seasons plus 2 autographed pictures of Kate. Some call me obsessed but I just really connect with the show...I cant help it. I really hope Shane becomes a 'player' again because Shane in a relationship doesnt make the show as interesting as it used to be. And not to be mean but I'm glad Carmen is out of the picture...now all I want is Paige to be gone. Turn her straight or something...please!! But I am also sad that Dana is no longer with us in the show,she was one of the ones who made the show just brighten up you know? Anywho...I am going to go now. I will ttyl. Thanks for reading!

Hi, I hope the producer gets to read this.
First of all I would like to say that this show is great. The cast and crew are really working hard to achieve such a wonderful outcome. The actors are doing a wonderful job in the roles I was amazed to know that in real life they are all married with kids! I hope someone can extend this to the cast that they are doing a great job in their acting, it is always nice to hear a positive feedback from viewers.Second the story line is amazing- it deals with daily life situations with the emotions that they go through, I personally was not aware of this happening in the alternative lifestyle. Ilene....thank you, I hope you continue this show.

When will we be getting new promo photos of the gang for the new season? It's the middle of November and there's usually at least one photo or promo graphic out by now that has images that aren't a year old. Or did Showtime cut that out of the budget and just not tell you?
Shit. Pathetic extras on the dvds and now you can't even give us anything pretty to look at before the season starts. Tsk. This production is losing redeeming qualities right and left.

i can't understand what Kate is saying when they're talking about Leisha doing her voice. Does anyone else know?

Okay, best as I can describe it: Kate has a really low-pitched, quiet voice. It sounds a bit like when you try to compress your vocal cords so that the sound you produce is a bit like the voice of a pubescent boy. It's quite distinct, also because I personally think Kate is making an active effort to make it so. :) And Leisha's voice is the opposite, by the way, in that it's high-pitched.

does anyone know a good lesbian/bi chatroom? i haven't been to a chatroom since highschool, almost 10 years ago! Oh and i love the L word, i am most attracted to Shane but i relate closely to Phyllis. Bye for now!

Thank you for the video with the L word cast. It seems to me that most of the videos or podcasts include the same cast members. We hardly ever see Rachel being interviewed or Jennifer and Laurel. Is there a reason for this. Am I being niave? Sorry if this question has been answered already.
Kate on Mia
I find it interesting what Kate said about first meeting Mia. She was expecting a Midwest kind of gal and Mia certainly isn't that type. Could it be that Jenny's character was miscast from the beginning? Could a different (more MidWest) character have changed the direction of the storyline? Maybe we would not have had to suffer through all those horrid flashbacks and outfits.

I don't think Mia was miscast, but I do agree that Mia has help mold this Jenny character to what she is today. I think if they would have casted any other actor for the role of Jenny, -- ya know what, I can't even phantom it. She so wasn't miscast.
And I'm thankful that all of these actors auditioned. It truly takes all of them to bring this to our homes.

Every good story has one
The character "Jenny" is an "antagonist"...the one you love to hate. These days Jenny is in opposition to the other characters because of the outward display (negativity) of her ego. But, really Jenny is in most opposition with herself. That's makes her such a fabulous character. She's a totally narcissistic whack job who manages to piss everyone off!
Mia does a superb job playing the part as she has really brought the character off the written page and breathed life into her. She succeeds in making Jenny a person you could loathe.
Personally, I found the flashbacks to be a huge distraction, though they did add credence to Jenny's emotional instability. However, IMO Season 2 was a total letdown after the mind blowingly fantastic debut of Season 1. Season 2 is by far my least favorite of all.

Those flashbacks weren't necessarily flashbacks. You missed the whole point. They were in her head as she was writing a story. It just so happened that the story was based on her childhood. It wasn't always a memoir, remember -- it was fiction. Those scenes were what made me love season 2 so much. They were so weird and creative. AND the weirdness perfectly led up to the fact that she was going a little crazy and that she would end up cutting herself. I thought it was brilliant.
Also, how boring would Jenny be if she were some nice little petite blonde girl from the midwest. She is so much more dynamic (and cooler) as Mia. And I don't really see why everyone (fans not characters) hates Jenny so much. I think she's a great character. I can see why Bette and Tina and Alice were mad at her -- but as a fictional character, she is very interesting, at least to me.

You are right, I did miss the point of all of those flashbacks/dream sequences. When I watch the DVDs of S2 I FF through all of those scenes. I can't make myself watch them. I must not be very artistic. By the way, I have grown to appreciate Mia and Jenny with S3 and S4. I never thought about the casting of Jenny until Kate mentioned it in one of these podcasts.
P.S. I think I read somewhere that Laurel H. also was interested in playing Shane.

Laurel as Shane? hahaha that wouldn't even work if she were 10 years younger and still looked like she did in 2 Girls In Love. She's just too cute. And southern haha.

Laurel only spoke that she is herself like Shane and when she was asking who she can play - she may be said "Shane" may be not. And about "too cute", did you see some ep. from series Angel? She was very brutal here.
