Been astonished to finally realize that Angela Robinson directs some episodes. And yes, the phone tree was so majorly kicking ass, I was literally rolling on the floor not being able to stop laughing. Awesome montage. Great style. Suits perfectly.

Even though I thought that Tina sort of used Helena, I always liked them as a couple. I thought that Helena was good for Tina and vice versa. While Bette is behaving like a sick-love fool with Jodie and it will probably continue for season 5, then Tina should find someone who loves her and respect her. I think it will be great if Heletina is given a chance again and maybe this time have Tina fall in love with Helena. Tina would love Helena for who she is and not because she has money or not. Helena with her kids and Tina with Angelica will make a very good family and I think that it is something they would both want. Bring back Alpha Helena, plz!

Poker lessons gone bad ???
Dear Ilene.
I’m sorry to have to post this, but for those of us that actually have been paying some attention to The L Word, Episode 4.06 was a disappointment. The people that are working with you should pay more attention to what they are doing. In Season 1 episode 06, all the girls get together to play poker, and we are led to believe that the poker is something they regularly did ( Shane’s phone call to Tina’s voice mail). Now, why should Papi be teaching them how to play????
The episode is brilliant, but the lack off knowledge your people are showing about your own series is shameful.
You see, some of us actually watch more than the sex scenes…
Please, try not to insult your audience’s intelligence… it is so boring this way.

LA Scene
The LA scene is too over worked in alot of showsand everyone ends up going to LA sometime. I think it's too over used and seems like just another cliche.

I think phylis should do something radical because of Alice, like, quit her job. Bette and Jodie should have another little smoke out as they had at the party, but, this time, have some drama. Have cops show up and someone get arrested.

There is very little chemistry between the love interests this year, except for maybe Shane's. Love Alice, she has been great all year.
Bette and Jodie, I enjoy the acting between them, but I am not convinced they are a permanent couple...
Bette is reliving her adolecence, so she might as well get the goods where ever she can...in cars...studios with no hygene (Jody has hands of steel, especially after working with the drill or sander...LOL), under the bleechers at the university and getting stoned too...
Let Bette have her girl toy fun and then return to her real life with her daughter, and examine her future...
Bette has not been too alpha this year, she had a few moments, not many...come on IC...as a fan from day one, I am not convinced....Bette would have dissed anyone who would not want her kid as a part of their life...that is the true alpha Bette...
Helena had a labotomy too and her kids dropped off the face of the earth........too bad they were cute kids...... Bring back Peggy now that would be a great addition to the permanent cast..

I've figured out where I remember Jenny from...
You totally pulled her out of a Neil Labute play/movie didn't you? She'd fit right in with any of the characters from his plays/movies. The funny thing is I remember some rumor about him possibly directing an episode in the second season. Too bad it never happened. Anyways, I think that's why I've always been fascinated by the character of Jenny. Her psychological makeup is truly interesting. Her actions may be effed up yet I can't help but be drawn in by why she does the things she does.

Jennifer Beals can bring the "hot & sexy" to love scenes
Dropping in to make a comment on the Bette and Jodi love scene. I have to give JB props. I loved how she went from hungry, passionate kisses to pulling back and giving a slow, tender kiss once they had their shirts off. Now that was sexy and a really nice touch. No one can top Jennifer Beals in love scenes. She is the BEST. You just know that Bette is a tender, passionate lover.

I must admit that I find it painful to see one of my favorite pieces of literary poetry used in the context of popular culture. And I am a popular culture vulture. Still, somehow it just feels... twisted. Like that Nike commercial that used a bastardized version of Psalm 23.

In your response, one could assume pop culture and religion are intertwined. I would not presume so much...however, any religion can be unraveled by careful analysis and an application of logic. Ergo to wit; if homosexuality was NOT mentioned by Jesus in the New Testament and therefore we can assume is not an over arching concern of Christ (i.e. 'Christians') then why is society beatened over the head with homosexuality as a sin of humanity?
Suffice it to say that Davids' 23rd Psalm (Old Testament)is beautiful, rhythmic and powerful. It is what it is.
To some, including myself, Tibette is also beautiful, rhythmic and powerful - from a sexual/lesbionic/pop cultural point of view.

Umm, yeah, see - this kind of stuff is exactly what I'm talking about.
There is a HUGE difference between being a romantic and being fans of a pair of characters who are completely wrong for each other and have only ever made each other MISERABLE.
I can understand the desire to have a positive, long-lasting relationship be represented on the show, but Tibette AIN'T IT.
The thing is - I could almost understand it, if the Tibettes were realistic and accepted the fact that Tina and Bette are human and have flaws and make mistakes and need to work on those. Instead, all I hear is 'chemistrychemistrychemistry', 'Tibette 4evar!', 'Tibette are so hot together!', 'TibetteTibette!', 'IC pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaze get Tibette back together!', 'Tibette aren't over!' and on and on and on in the same vein. They don't see Tina and Bette as they are - they see them as romanticized, homogenized caricatures they would LIKE THEM TO BE so that this ridiculous delusion they share can be complete and unbreakable.
You might think it's offensive to say that 'a diverse group of people' is a cult, but I find it just as offensive to compare a broken, co-dependent, abusive relationship to a religion. Religion should be about what's good about a thing, and a way to make that thing better - not starting out with a bad thing and having it only get worse and worse as time goes on. Which is exactly what has happened with that relationship.
Quit deluding yourselves. Tina and Bette aren't 'first, last and forever'. This isn't a sodding fairy tale. They aren't the long-term relationship IC has in mind. They don't love each other 'no matter what'. They don't have 'heat' or 'chemistry'. The relationship is in complete tatters and they can barely speak to each other and remain civil for five minutes. THAT? Is not a relationship worth building a religion around.

I'm not sure just how religion got drawn into this-- unless in the same sense as a cult that has a following.
When we discuss the actions of the characters and are drawn into their interactions and feel sympathy for them, it is because of their strengths and flaws. Their flaws compromise them in ways that elicit judgements from us as to the character's moral fiber, but the true test of lasting love is to be able to overcome the flaws and to recognize your mistakes as such and to go on from there against all odds towards reconciliation and creating a relationship that is able to sustain both in a symbiosis, without dependancy and neurotic needs.
I think Bette and Tina do have the kind of lasting love worth fighting for. They have a lot of work to do to "fix" what was wrong with their previous relationship, but I would love to see them give it a good try.

Just my observations on the back-room people ...
Watching this clip of Angela and Ilene answers many questions that have been going through my mind regarding the "back room people", i.e. writers, production, director.
I've followed the L Word from season 1 and read many fans brickbats and bouquets about storylines and characters. Each season can stand alone on its own merits but I always had a hunch that there were too many strong personalities in the creative team pushing for their own agenda when it came to the storylines. Therein lies the problem IMHO. Taken as a whole, I'm struggling to see any solid cohesion between the seasons, and some of the characters actions begger belief ! (You know which ones.)
I appreciate that consistantly high viewing figures are needed if Showtime is to renew the contract for seasons 5,6, etc., and that means attention-grabbing, entertaining storylines. But please, think about what makes other shows so successful and has viewers clamouring for more. You have a group of talented actors on this show who are capable of delivering so much more and have the potential to develop their characters beyond what you've witnessed so far. I urge you to give them that opportunity and in order to do so, you need to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

Jennifer does have steam heat with Laurel, the actress who played the Senator and that one night stand she had in NY. MM just doesn't bring the steam heat in her performance. An actress either has it or she doesn't and MM doesn't.

She is a wonderful actress. Maybe if she knew what her partner did to Jenny she would understand a little of Jenny's behavior (even though not nice). They have a lot of chemistry between them. Would love to see Caroline as part of the main cast. Maybe she could become part of the "group" as Dana's replacement.
I know that no one will ever replace Dana but I think you get my thinking.
I am not liking the jodi/bette character. I think as professionals they could become friends but "lovers", no way!!! Poor love making scene by both (I too have never seen lesbian sex like that). Maybe I'm just not experienced enough.
Please, Ilene they are not good together as lovers. No one will ever have as much chemistry as tina/bette did.
