Last Long Lingering Look at The L Word

Some of you have already seen the press release. Showtime has ordered a 6th and final season of The L Word!

First, let me just say how happy we are. I speak for my colleagues – actors, writers and producers – when I say that it means the world to us to have the opportunity to close this phase of the incredible journey we’ve all been on these past six years.

We’re not saying goodbye yet. We haven’t even wrapped up season five. We haven’t reconvened in the writer’s room and ranted and raved and debated and psychoanalyzed and snacked excessively on carrots and organic rice chips and pitched our hearts out for weeks on end. We haven’t packed up our dogs and our cars and our unruly, barely portable lives and trucked up to Vancouver for the long summer. There’s a lot of toil still ahead of us – a lot of storytelling, a lot of romance and, no doubt, some rancor and scads and scads of drama. We’re nowhere near goodbye.

Now is the time for you to let us know what you want – what you absolutely need to know before we’re through. If you read that press release, you know that Showtime has promised even more interactivity than in season five – during which we shot and incorporated a scene conceived by a fan, and delivered some wish fulfillment to a veritable nation of people known as Tibetters. We are in the process of figuring out exactly what form this interactive component will take. If you have any ideas, let us know. Hell, we can even be interactive about figuring out how to incorporate your interactivity. In any event, as soon as we come up with a format, it will be posted here on OurChart; and in the meantime, we’re listening, talking, taking it all in, probably thinking many of the same thoughts ourselves.

Thank you for helping to make season five such an incredible success for us. This triumphant sixth and final season is due in no small part to your watching The L Word in record numbers in 2008 and supporting the show with passionate involvement. I hope you enjoy the last two episodes of our penultimate installment, and stay with us on OurChart. The girls will be out – the L Word girls and many others – and we’ll be announcing some new projects and plans and making promises – lots of promises.

wait...but...what? why?..ugh
well, this is just fucking awful!
8 episodes?
I cant sit here and pick at what you should've and shouldn't have done with this show, it doesnt matter - its the only show i'm glad ever existed. im really thankful.

i've seen myself in many ways in your characters so its hard hearing its going to end. Ive just begun watching this show.
i hope you leave us with a good message, some warm feelings and good hopes for gays - and just "coming out" gays like me.
love & laughter

I would watch if....

If there is a spin off and it seems as though this is a huge possibility, then I would watch anything with Jennifer Beals in it. I believe she is talented enough to carry the torch and keep it burning. So if it has to be one person, she is the only option. If it was any of the other characters, I agree they are talented but I believe they would not be able to keep the fans attention span. Sorry, sad but true!

The difference is.........

I hear people say don't let TLW be like Buffy, Law & Order, etc. but you can't say we are wanting it to be like those shows. The point is that there are NO good quality lesbian shows out there to watch, not one. But there are a million Buffy, Law & Order, CSI wherever shows to watch every day of the week. If we can get one great lesbian show for several months out of the year, for one day out of the week, I don't think we are asking for alot. We have a show like ex's & O's that try to be the next best lesbian show but it SUCKS!!! Like Bette says "it just does Not compare".
If IC has the power to give us a spin-off of the L Word, more power to all the fans that can't wait for it to start.
And Tina and Bette are the powerhouse couple on the show, numbers don't lie. For all the ones that don't support a spin off or are Tibette haters well, when IC and Showtime rolls the red carpet out on the new spin-off hopefully starring Tina and Bette and our little Angelica, all you guys can just shut off your tv's, and allow all the thousands of fans who been hoping and praying for the show to go on, and for all the others who have been busting their butts to fight to keep The L Word alive let us all be in our glory watching the best lesbian show in tv history.

WELL, WELL, WELL

I totally agree with u Dolphin!!!! I can not get into Exes and OHs. It is so way off the mark. The chemistry sexual and non does not spark. A show with with Bette, Tina, and Angelica is one I will definitely support. The world needs to see lesbian parenting in a positive light. Hell, I just showed my mom pictures of a lesbian couple that I know (8 years strong) who just had a baby. (YES MOM IT CAN BE DONE. YOU CAN HAVE YOUR HOPE AFTERALL!)
I will be one of those thousands of fans tuning in. There are those who complain: TiBette this and TiBette that. WEll understand that us TiBetters didn't really get to see them be really happy together. When TiBette was introduced they were already having problems. I need to, I want to see more Bette and Tina enjoying each other. TiBette FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE and AFFECTION

(With a smirk and rolling the eyes)...lol...A plea to Judge Ilene. As soon as I heard Showtime would be airing a show called "Earthlings" then changed to the
"L Word" starring Jennifer Beals, I knew it would be a success. No, I didn't call and subscribe to Showtime. I waited to rent the dvd's of season 1 & 2 later I would receive my copies earlier.

Season 1:
I immediately was blown away by the chemistry of Jennifer & Laurel. I've never seen that connection on televison before between characters. And its not about love scenes. I actually wished you would have given Jennifer & Laurel more scene time. You never let Bette and Tina communicate...You seemed to focus on Mia's character Jenny, she gets most time onscreen, and it hasn't changed for 5 seasons. You struck gold with them but threw it away at the end of season 1. You had them doomed from the pilot episode.

I know the focus on Jenny is because the character is based on you. Time to check the ego at the door.

Season 3 & 4
Hard to watch. I only watched season 4 once and one or two episodes of season 3 a few times more.

I guess after season 1 & 2 I saw the collapse of the family unit, the nuclues, the core that made the L Word:
Jennifer, Laurel, Erin, Kate, Leisha, Mia, Pam, & Karina
You lost faith in those actresses. Additional cast members weren't necessary (but I love Rachael). I've never seen a show with so many changes.

And killing Dana what a mistake. A missed opportunity to show a cancer survivor, maybe in some ways comforting real cancer survivors. What a journey you could have let Dana travel. I'm sure Erin would have sunk her teeth into the challenge.

I also thought of Erin in the "God Father" scene. She would have been hilarious...yeah and the "party brownies". I miss Erin.

As for Season 5 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
You certainly tried to redeem yourself. You reunited Bette & Tina, best thing you've done. Showcase the talent of Jennifer & Laurel. All the wasted time when you could have given the audience the Bette & Tina love story, their journey they would travel, the obstacles they would face and overcome. The audience was cheated. But, for the first time you gave back a little. You gave Bette & Tina the longest scene onscreen. I believe it was episode 7 "Lights Camera, Action" I think it was 5 min 38 secs. It was the second love scene but this time you wrote a beginning, middle & end.
But you have to give them new moves, same moves as the last love scene in the pilot..lol. Although you did allow Jennifer to speak saying she missed Tina, something you cut out of the pilot.
Alas, Poor Jennifer making sure she's covered up (good for her).

I just wish you would have done that it the earlier scene (one with Joan Armatrading song..love that song I wanted to hear the end). But still not enough...And I couldn't leave out "Liquid Heat" where you gave them 4 minutes of dialogue, a conversation allowing them to express their thoughts, explaining their action and feelings, and being accountable for their actions. And of course the scene stealer "I Love You" (6 minutes plus total from scene entering & exiting elevator..lol). I did have to chuckle at the season finale...just in case you weren't renewed you gave everyone the final dance and kiss Bette & Tina would share...And all I'm thinking is there dancing to no music but the still got rhythm.

Now Season 6:
You have to get rid of all the actresses and focus on the the family who made the show a success.

1) (Now that its legal to marry in California a season finale should be a Bette & Tina wedding)

Bette & Tina engagement (Tina proposing), then wedding. More screen time for Jennifer & Laurel. This is the last time let this incredibily talented duo will light up the screen.

2) Let Shane find her peace. You made another mistake having her cheat with Nikki. Shane would never do that to Jenny. I'm sure Kate wasn't too thrilled.

3) Less Jenny... (Yes, Mia is talented) I'm glad you finally brought her back down to earth. It's nice to see the old Jenny back, but that's basically what the past 5 season have been. The majority of the episodes focused on Jenny (she had the most screen time).
But, I know Jenny is you so you have to keep your ego stroked...ha

4)No, Jenny & Shane hookup. Shane is looking for forgiveness and friendship. Give Jenny her Nikki.

5) Leisha & Kate in scenes together always comic relief.
And Jane Lynch you hit a gold mine there, (if you love Jane rent "Best in Show" "A Mighty Wind"...she can sing too!!).

6)How about celebrating a holiday...Christmas...Tina proposing to Bette.

7)No Helena and "Lover Cindy" hookup.
Bring back Dylan...and that request may come true.

8)Keep Holland Taylor in the mix somewhere. She's great as Peggy Peabody.

Well now that I've read EB joining the show...trouble for B&T??
Probably. No-one can ever be happy on this show. I'm sure Jennifer is happy to be playing opposite to one her best friends.

*************How about this for a twist...Instead of fan participation
which I find the only motivation behind this is money and hits on this website...Ask your actresses the direction the characters should go.
Have them write their l word scene.************************************************

In closing I guess the show will never be great because Erin isn't there. There is a void that can't be filled. You made the attempt when you allowed Laurel, Leisha, & Kate to share screen time together and I enjoyed it but...(((((Erin)))))).

I guess I'm looking for a happy ending....and why not?? Your not weak if you want a happy ending, just the opposite.

Power IN TRUTH.

Peace, Light & Love

If you love it, let it free.

Seriously guys, we are alive during one of the most poignant, and important movements in regards to the portrayal of the homosexual community on television.

Let's be grateful for that and be excited about the possibilities of seeing these characters--that we are so invested in--end in a blaze of glory.

Like all great television shows that were ever considered a cult phenomenon: Buffy comes to mind... There must be an end. I, for one, am grateful that I will get to watch Ilene write a fitting and honest end to the stories I loved to hear for the past few years.

This is so wrong

The fans signed 24,400 petitions to save the L word, not to have Bob Greenblatt decide that there will be a spin off with 1 of the characters from the show.I am a big fans of Tina and Bette I, like many other fans love their passion. If they are not included in the spin off I will not watch.I think the spin off should include Bette,Tina,Alice and Jenny or Shane .That foursome will keep the show interesting, create more fans not less and keep the fans happy.Haveing a spin off with one original cast member is a recipe for failure.

Imagine Bette without Tina. That's what the spin off will be like.

Spin-Off

I think the reality of the situation is there is NOTHING like the L Word to support the couch potato, nesting Lesbian community. LOL I would be ok with the L Word ending better if there was something else worth watching on TV. How about some kind of spin-off of the show? I wish I had suggestions, but I can't even focus. What will I do without my Shane fix? LOL Anyway maybe someone else can think of some ideas? I live it to the real artists. Anyway, thanks for the memories. This show will always be in our thoughts and hearts!

~Kisses~

"The only queer people are those who don't love anybody." ~Rita Mae Brown

I feel your pain, but...

Please don't let the L become Law & Order-esque! I couldn't bear to see that happen to such an important show. I'll miss it too, but maybe we should admit that there is something to be said for allowing it to come to an end, as all valuable things do. I'm sure some of these very talented actors would like a chance to challenge themselves in other ways.

Taem?

Too many stories not enough time.....

I will keep saying this to the end. There are just too many stories and not enough time. Trying to crame all these stories into 8 episodes is not right. If there were just a few characters, it would not be as bad, but trying to crame, Bette, Tina, Shane, Alice Jenny, Kit, Helena, and all the others that may return or not, story lines into 8 episides is just crazy!! I could watch 1 hr. of the eight episodes of just Bette and Tina. Let alone all the stories. The fans have such passion for this show, it just does not seem right. Like I said before, first it was the war, global warming, then HIGH gas prices, and now the ending of the L Word!!!! Has the whole world gone mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or has Showtime and Ilene lost their minds!??? Oh, not to mention L Word not winning for Best drama series at the Glaad awards. Can someone tell me why straight shows are winning Glaad awards. Ugly Betty, Brother and Sisters....come on now....STRAIGHT!! so what they have a gay character or a storyline...that does not make it a gay show. And isn't Glaad awards suppose to be geared towards gay and lesbians????!!! The L Word should have one that Glaad award hands down. Ok, maybe shows like Ugly Betty get more viewers (ABC, NBC, CBS) but of course they would!!, they are on a basic cable channel, not the whole world pays to have/watch HBO, Showtime, etc....those extra paid channels. I guess everything comes down to the buck, not the quality of a show. Thank god we have these boards to post, because it's a great way of venting our fustration with the whole cable and television industry. After the L Word ends, I am seriously thinking of obstaining from watching tv, because I am so tired of the politics that go behind it all. If we can not even keep shows on the air that we love, and we are paying for these cable channels, then what's the use??

Well said Dophin.

I can't hardly think about the fact that there are only going to be 8 episodes and that's it!! You're right about the GLAAD Awards too.

Of course I want all 8 episodes to have a lot of Bette and Tina in them with Angelica at least some of the time. I know there are a lot of characters, but I consider Tibette the central focus. Not trying to be selfish. I am just so elated they are together that I want to see a lot of them together. Together would include making love, having fun, being good parents, and a focus to the future that looks like they will stay together forever. It's really unusual to find a duo that compliment each other so well. Please capitalize on that magic for the final season.

Broken Record

I know - I know...............but I want to see Shane and Alice end up together...............riding off into the sunset.

But BEFORE that..................a blast from the past comes back............. all grown up.........all sexy and planning to get Shane to fall in love with her..................YEP.........Cheries daughter - CLEA -.

See ya

FAY

SHANE & MOLLY

Mrs. Chiken
I BEG YOU NOT TO BRING CARMEN BACK
SHANE BELONGS TO MOLLY
PLEASE!

Molly + Shane = Shae

Whether they go on as lovers or friends, Molly's legal interest provides a perfect opportunity to reunite Shane with Shae. And let's face it, this girl either gets some sort of family connection and lets herself grow up, or she self destructs very soon. With Carmen and then Shae, Shane has had several opportunities to leave behind her concept of self as Daddy's mini-me fuck-up, and she hasn't chosen/been allowed to make that leap.

The most positive aspect of Shane's character has always been a deep caring and loyalty to her surrogate family, especially Jenny. I don't care if Molly's mom put her opinions up in lights for the world to see; the damning comment came from Bette, not Jenny and I just can't see Shane reacting that way. At least not without taking a header that killed her in short order.

Many of us have been fucked over by our families. Recreating the self you were raised to loathe takes courage and fortitude. But hell, if Shane isn't a survivor, who among us is?

Be clever, Ilene, and dig our girl out before she digs a grave.

Taem?

if we have to say goodbye....

I will admit I am being selfish, I don't want Ilene to stop writing stories for the L Word and I don't want to see these actresses leave the show. Esspecially Jennifer, Laurel and Leisha. I think these three make an amazing cast with such great acting skills. For the first time in my life and I am 37, we have a show that has such great representation of the lesbian community. And I don't think we will ever get another show like this again. You need the right ingredients to make a show work. And the L Word had everything to make the perfect show. I could see if people were getting bored or there was just no place to go with these storylines, but that's not the case at all. People are addicted to this show. I personally think it's crazy to end the L Word. But that's just my opinion. I think after this hit series, that will be the end. I think the whole community will be swept back under the carpet like always and shows will try to follow in the steps of the L Word and will fail. The only way I can see another successful show like the L Word, is if it was a DRAMA and had beautiful women in it, with another great love story, twisted relationships, lots of drama. It would have to be just as exciting or more exciting then the L Word. I think that's going to be hard to follow. If it was up to me, I say keep a good thing going....keep the L Word on. But maybe I will be proven wrong, maybe something great will be to follow.

All good things must come to a end...but go out with a BANG...

Hello all,new to our chart but not new to the L word. have all six seasons...and i watch them until the miss tell me to turn them off....have some ?'s and i have ideas for the last season...The round table...the writer`s of the show can answer some ?'s. You know how dana met alice and we all know how tina met bette but how did they meet shane?...when we first see shane she not talking to anyone before her first shot of coffee at the planet then she out the door to go do hair at 9:oo am. have more to come ?"s that is.....just throwing that out there to see if anyone write back...

my personal thoughts about this...

Well, I can't possibly explain how sad I was when I heard that the next season was gonna be the final one. And I can't believe that it is ending right now, when it's having such a huge impact in the world. Not only in the U.S. but all around the world. The L word has been one of the most important things in my life, and if it ends, I know it's gonna be the saddest thing that could happen to me. I hope, with all my heart and faith that you realize that we just love this show and it has changed so many lives. I feel like I'm part of something so special, so please.... PLEASE... don't make it the end. Nothing will be the same after The L word... So please.... don't break our hearts yet...

Anyway, what I'd like to see in the next season:

I'd like to see Dylan come back to be with Helena. I loved loved loved them together. I think she's the best for Helena, and they really loved each other.

I know that many people want Shane to be with Carmen, and I would like that too, but I also like Molly. But it would be a great surprise to se Carmen again! And also, Kate said she wanted Shane to be with Carmen. But please, let her be happy! Don't let her do anything stupid now!!

Bette and Tina, finally should be together. I love Jennifer and Laurel. They are great together and they are the best couple ever. So please. Just stop torturing us and let them be together and happy and in love. They have to get married please!

I think that's all I'd really like to see. Please bring Dylan back. Alexandra Hedison is great.

Thank you for the oportunity to tell you what we'd like to see. Thanks to everyone for this incredibly beautiful show.

Some ideas for season 6

1) Jenny and Marina (can you get Kirena back) if not then Jenny and Niki.

2) Shane and Carmen definitly second choice would be, Shane and Molly, Finally, shane and Jenny

3) Alice and Tosha work through different issues already mentioned by others.

4) Helina and Dylan i am ssoooooooo there!

5) Jody moves to be back with her x to leave Bette and Tina alone!!!

6) Yes, please bring Erin back to play some flashback scenes somehow i do not care what direction you all take well na i don't lol.

7) Bette pregnant not gona happen we can not see it not they was Bette has been concieved unless for some reason Tina can not have kids let them adopt alot has changed or they could have Alice carry twins with Markus's sperm. Alice & Toshia's agreement could be you let us keep one and it's a done deal lol We all Know that Jennifer Beals can sing and very well too i might add can you have Bette sing a duet with her sister Kit or to Tina as a love song of their rough journey their love has taken. I think it would be awesome. Do you also ck out the fanlib part of our chart their are some really amazingly well thought well writen stories on here for all of the characters i have read a few i would like to see some of those scenes in season 6.

Peace & Love

We would never want to hold the actresses back........

I don't think any fan is trying to hold back any of these actresses. We love them and would want the best for them. I think most people like myself think the L Word is a FABULOUS show, so of course we would want it to stay on the air. It's great entertainment! And the actresses are awesome. And it's steady work for for these actresses for 6 months out of the year, I would think they would love this gig, who wouldn't? And give me a break with this "it may type cast them", do you think actresses are going to stick out or be remembered for playing some frumpy house wife or maybe a school teacher or for playing a hot lesbian on a hit series???????? Of course a HOT LESBIAN!
For people to attack fans and say we are wrong for wanting the show to stay on, WHATEVER!! Now, yes, I agree some fans can NOT separate the character from the real life actresses....and that's an issue in it's self, but that's not what I am talking about, those people just may need to go see a doctor and be put on some medication or something. But fans of the L Word know that these are just characters ... and of course people refer to their character when they see these actresses in the street...that's all they know, they don't know them personally. Does not mean they think that actress is that person. Part of being a musician or actor comes fans....if it was not for fans watching, shows, movies or going to concerts....there would not be rich famous people......and life would be pretty boring. So my point is, no one wants to hold these actresses back, for those who want to move on, GO, but for those who love working on the show and want to continue...hey us fans are here supporting you and The L Word all they way!!!! :)

Ending the L Word

I recently watched a reunion lunch taped with the actors from Queer as Folk (youtube). It became clear to me the impact of such a series on the actors who play those roles. In one segment, Peter Paige (Emmet) talks about getting away from the show as stepping out of a pool. He said something like it's hard to shake off. Another actor said it was like being in a cul de sac. The impression I got was that during the QAF run, the actors were immersed in the roles. During filming, they lived more in their characters than out (12-14 hour days). They spent months in Canada, shooting the show. When they were not shooting (and still) people recognize them as the characters they played and not as the actors they are. That happens so much with the L Word characters. So many people here treat the show, especially Bette and Tina, but also most of the other characters as if they are real people.

I think the 6th season is a good place to end, both for the show and for the actors. Jennifer Beals has been an incredible spokesperson for our community, but she is not Bette. She is a fabulous actress in her own right. This is true of everyone else. The show could not have engaged us as much as it did if everyone on it hadn't poured their hearts and souls into it.

I have been completely entertained and love the L Word (with all its shortcomings. Who cares about that really? It's a celebration of lesbian lives.)

If I want Ilene, but particularly the actors to know anything, I want them to know that their courage in taking on these roles, in playing them so well is deeply appreciated. I am committed to them as artists and will watch pretty much anything they do after the L Word. A big thanks to all of you.
Lezbeth

My Sentiments, Exactly Lezbeth!

Considering that from all the indications I've heard, no one was certain that they would be getting a 6th season - I think we ought to accept the gift and then care enough about these people to let them move on to new ventures.

The fact is, all the actors will forever be recognized on the streets as their characters - we know this from other long-run shows. Hopefully, none of them will have to fight stereotyping by directors and casting departments as they move on in their acting careers. These women have all proven their versatlity,as far as I am concerned, and I, too, look forward to whatever future productions they appear in.

I hope Kate does more with the Homeless project we got to see this year. I hope we might see other collaborative projects between some or all The L Word actresses.

I hope Ilene and the production staff and actors are saavy enough (and I believe they are) to know that they already have a huge market awaiting a full-length movie - whether that comes to theaters or gets aired on Showtime.

Obviously, The L Word legacy will live on in conventions, on Our Chart, and the countless websites and message boards that have sprung up around the show. Why do I know that these social networks will continue? Because of the profound and lasting friendships that some of us have experienced as a result of participating in them.

There's an old show biz addage that supports going out on a high note. "Leave them asking for more." And that's where's we're at today. (It beats limping off tired out and with a whimper!)

Ilene - I hope you end off with one fucking fabulous party! Give us the girls "laughing, loving, living" - celebrating their friendships and love for each other.

I don't like thinking about losing one of the most, if not the most profound representation of my life as a lesbian in the media. But it's out there as part of the "Pop Culture" now. We can work to make sure that there is more programming like this - as writers, directors, producers, and viewers. I hear Ilene's disappointment that there aren't more shows out there already in place to take up the slack as a result of the trail that TLW has blazed - but you know the industry you're working in Ilene, take heart and don't give up! Don't forget us as a base of support to pull on.

I celebrate the courage and endurance of the actresses and production staff of TLW. Thanks for giving us 6 memorable years! Thanks for preserving a sense of ensemble, which comes across in your work and the glimpses we get to see of you "behind the scenes."

After that final episode airs, I'll miss you all. There will be an "emptiness" to deal with, as with any loss. But I'll watch for you in your future projects with much anticipation. (And there's always the DVD's!)

How many years did Rocky Horror Picture Show run in theaters? (LOL)

Long Live The L Word! Thank you for the gift you have been in our lives. May you all go on to the success and happiness that you desire and deserve. :)
MsQueer

Thanks for your thoughts on this

Something you said brought up a thought that's been rattling around in my brain. The entertainment industry can't possibly overlook the profits from this venture. Here is a community poised for the next show to feed our spirits. How could they ignore the hunger for stories and characters that get us hooked into our TVs? Any savvy network exec would totally get this and start shopping for smart, engaging programming to keep those lezzie dollars rolling in.

I, like you, appreciate the connections I've made through OC and the L Word got me here. What a great idea this was. Like you, I'm grateful to be able to interact with others in this kind of forum. I honestly don't feel as isolated in the rural community where I live because of OC and others like you, MsQueer

Time to sit back.....

Well, I think thousands of fans are fustrated with not understanding why The L Word is really ending. Is it Showtime or is it IC and the writers???
I am so drained from it all, I signed the petitions, made the phone calls, even supported the show in a parade in PA. I begged my better half to let me fly across country to go to the L5 convention and that did not go over very well. So now I think I am just going to sit back and take a breather from all of this.
I am going to enjoy season six, if they continue with a season 7,8...or a movie......I will be THRILLED! I don't know about anyone else, I just feel emotionally drained being so consumed with hoping the show will continue. But maybe it's just a lost cause. I think the fans put up a good fight for the show though, I am not sure any other show in television history ever got the support from fans that the L Word has. I think it's pretty amazing. I do wish all the actresses the very best in their lives. They all have done a beautiful job portraying such wonderful characters. I will really miss watching Tina and Bette though (JB & LH), although they were fictional characters....they really were like our best friends....that couple that we always route for and love....

When I called and emailed

When I called and emailed Showtime the response I got from both conversations was that the writers, directors, etc. of the show were the ones that made the decision that it was time for the L word to end not them...Is this true? If so those of us who are out there signing petitions, harrassing Showtime, posting videos and blogs need to know from the writers, directors and members of the cast that this is the case and it is not Showtime that wants the show canceled.

Best chemistry (Bette and TIna) & Sexiest Show ever...........

Come on, this show is getting this kind of popularity and it's going to end.....has Showtime and Ilene lost their minds?????? The L Word is HOT! And should not be ending. This show is getting more hype now then ever, the whole Tina and Bette relationship is just genious!!! Their our Luke and Laura. This show deserves at least 8 seasons at the minimum.

TLW Word is Listed as one of the Sexiest Shows of All-Time

http://tv.msn.com/tv/galleryfeature/sexiest-shows-ever/

How can Showtime cancel this show in its prime?!?!?!?!

I can't believe that IC and the actors want the show to end now. With the legalization of same-sex marriage in California we are entering a new era in the fight for rights for LGBT in the USA. TLW has been instrumental in demystifying the every day lives of gay and bisexual women, and it is inconceivable that this show will end at this important juncture in our civil rights history.

Someone just shoot me!!!!

If I watch another video with Tina and Bette on U Tube, will someone just shoot me!! I am tired of crying, but the videos with the music are so good....but they are sad to watch. Sad because you see everthing these two went through to make it back to one another. I am thrilled that they made it back together, but sad because I know it's over after season 6. Jennifer and Laurel are so exciting to watch!!! I am trying to except the show ending, but I am having a hard time. OMG, it's entertainment at it's best watching these two, I just think it's crazy to take the show off! I hope Ilene figures out another way to bring this couple back after season six. I would be happy if the l word came back for another 2 or 3 seasons. Then I think I would be satisfied as well as all the other fans, right now we think this is BS, that it will end at season 6. I have to say I think we all got to exhale finally in season 5, first when Bette kissed Tina in the nightclub. Then in the elevator when they finally communicated. And Bette told Tina she loved her....and Tina told Bette she loved her back. Because damn it, it was torture watching season 4 and 5. Tina always was waiting for Bette to say something and Bette was always beating around the bush, never being honest about how she felt. Finally when Bette kissed Tina in the club and she cried, it was like finally!!! The walls are starting to come down, then they made love a couple of times, then finally the elevator scene it all came out, how they both really felt. I truely just want this couple to be happy. JB said if they earned it, then she would not mind them getting back. Well, JB, they earned it. I think they both suffered enough. They may even hurt other people along the way, but maybe it's a lesson for them and the rest of the world. we see the destruction cheating leaves behind, and we see the pain we put oursevles through and others when we are not honest to ourselves and the people in our lives. If we can avoid the pain we must try....just look at Tina and Bette, but I do believe sometimes pain is unavoidable when it comes to love....sometimes it's only through pain, that we realize what we have and who we really love. I think that's why Tina and Bette became this world wide loved couple, because they are so real, so many people can relate to them. So thanks Ilene, Jennifer and Laurel for giving us such a wonderful love story.

I'd like to see....

What I think would be really great is, we get to see all of the characters a few years from now. See how each relationship worked out, Who's still playing the field, maybe someone reconnects with an old flame and things work out, that kind of stuff. It would just be really great. I would most definitely love to see Tasha and Alice still together, and I'm for the whole Shane/Jenny relationship <---- they could be each others true love. Bette and Tina, of course a wedding.

*In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lioness sleeps tonight*

GET IN THERE ILENE! :)

I'd like to see some of the old people back. Like Carmen and Angus. I would like to know how Angelica ends up turning out. I'd like to see Shane really, really fall in love. I really want Bette and Tina to work out. I'd like to see Ilene play a part! Even if its a small one. Like a hotdog vendor or something. lol. Get in there Ilene. I'd like it to end with all of the girls happy and together, laughing thier asses off.

I alwayss thought Season 6

should end with a Tibette wedding. However, the more I think about it, the more I would like to see it sooner than that. I hope they could be on an extended honeymoon even if part of it is at home. Please utilitze the wonderful chemistry JB and LuH have to the full extent possible.

Final episodes of The L Word

Can I just say it out loud...I don't want The L Word to end! Ever. Do I have that kind of power? No, but I said it anyway.

So what do I want to see before the last Showtime episode? I want to continue to see our lives portrayed in all of . I am a lesbian in a 22 year committed relationship with a 13 year old son who's heading off to high school. I want to see Tina and Bette getting up in the morning, a long kiss before getting out of bed to tend to Angie, talking about what's for dinner, who can go to the grocery store after work. I want to see them talking about getting married (maybe with their group of friends); Tina, Bette and Angie laughing, loving, dancing and acting silly in their home together.

I am sad that there will not be storylines with Angie, Bette and Tina interacting with Angie's friends straight parents for play dates, birthday parties and school functions. I also would have loved to have seen Angie grow up and live a bit of my son's life, i.e., explaining her/his family configuration, telling classmates not to use certain words, wanting to share their home and their mom's with their friends and not being embarrassed to show the love he has for his family in public.

There are so many stories left to tell, and I'm sad to see The L Word end after only six short seasons.

Ilene, thank you for your passion and thank you for continuing to tell all of our stories with such truth and honesty.

Brilliant Show

This show is ground breaking with fantastic writing I don't understand this sudden cancellation of a brilliant show.

I agree with Tibette-TGFE no new chracters focus on the originals and obviously for the sake of the story bring back the past chracters that have left... No new characters.

I haven't seen season five yet as I'm in the UK and don't have cable/sky, I wait for the DVD's but I'm in no doubt that it is as brilliant as the previous four.

Also no bi confused stories I think they annoy everyone wether straight/gay/bi whatever. Seen as the show is for gay women primarily I don't think any of the core cast should go with men.

I don't know what else to say except... Everyone could relate to something in the show, it is a top quality show which is rare these days, fantastic actors, fantastic writers, fantastic everything.

I wish everyone involved in the show happiness and future success.

peace and love x :) x

The interview with Jennifer Beals......has anyone seen of heard?

I was on the other L Word site and read that JB was on a late night show and said the L Word is ending for sure, and that all good things come to an end, and that the cast members want to move on.......Has anyone seen or heard about this late night interview???????? I find it hard to believe JB will say the cast members want to move on, but I need some clarity on this. Alot of us fans are fighting for this show to stay on not only because we love the show, but we were fighting for it for the cast members, thinking they also wanted it to go on. But if this board member is right about what JB said, I would love to know so I can move on. Stop with the letters, and petitions and even being in a parade to save this show. I have put so much time and energy into following this show and what's going to happen to it....and to hear this just makes me feel sad. I guess for all us die hard fans, that still have hope for the show to go on....I just have to ask....are we all just wasting our precious time on something that showtime knows it's over with, and the cast don't even really care about or really just wants to move on from.....I stressed right now so I have to say good bye. But hopefully we will all get some straight answers from IC and the cast.

has anyone seen or heard

I wander if what Jennifer said in that interview was an after though to the show being canceled.I haven't heard about any interview.Ilene said that Showtime ordered the 6th and final season of the L word that sounds like cancelation to me.What the fans need are some stright answers from Ilene and Jennifer on this(ourchart)Blog. It would be easier to let if we knew all of the facts.

dylan and helena

Let Dylan come back for Helena!! After i saw the kiss bescene, i like them together even more than i already did!
They are perfect together!

please don't torture us...

Please no more confused people stories,,,,,We already seen the bi sexual confused girl story with Tina. I see enough of that in real life. I don't want to see that next season, esspecially if this is going to be our last season of the L Word, it's just very fustrating. It's not the bi part, that bothers me, it's the confused part. And there's a big difference between being bi and being bi and confused. Bi people are confident....they know they like both sexes. Confused and bi, is terrible. Terrible for the person going through it because there so messed up in the head usually, terrible for the person or people they are dating, and terrible for the friends who have to listen to the ciaos this person usually causes. If this is it for the L Word, I want to see the characters happy and at peace in all their lives. I want to see Tina and Bette happy, and leave us all knowing they will last forever. I know Shane is Shane...a little player but I will like to see her stop sleeping around so much, and not be afraid of commitment. I would love to see Molly come back and work it out with Shane. And our funny Alice....I would love to see her with Helena. And Jenny....she has hurt people and she's been hurt...I finally will like to see her find her place in the world....and find true piece & love.....honestly, I would not mind if her and Jim got back together...I thought he was good for her.

new characters and storys

I would love to see Diane Kruger, Mischa Burton or Becki Newton in the show...all beautiful woman who can act. In season 6 I would love to see a straight girl fall for a different character than shane...I would love to get shane and carmen back together, or just have carmen back in the show, it would be lovely to see shane in love with someone for real this time!!

I would love to see a story of 2 women with a past coming back together in the future through experiences that have changed them as people...

one woman is straight and the other woman is bisexual/gay,they fall in love and the straight woman goes through a rough time trying to figure out her feelings as she has decided to not get serious with anyone as she had gotten her heart broken by a man recently, also tries to fig. out if she could be gay or bisexual as she has never felt this way for a woman before but experimented in her teens...as they date and go through good times it just ends bc the straight woman realises she is still attracted to men and doesnt want to commit to anyone seriously bc she is afraid of commitment, then they become best friends although they still have this attraction for eachother.

the gay/bisexual women is still in love throughout their friendship and it gets too hard when the straight one gets with guys and isnt specific about her deal for the gay/bisexual woman... then the first time the straight woman hooks up with a guy in front of the bisexual/gay woman they end their friendhsip....the gay/bisexual one goes through a rough time of missin the woman she was in love with and loosin a best friend at the same time. She goes through a depression and tries to learn new things about herself and to put herself first than others, she decides to never let someone have such effect in her life again, she learns to appreciate herself and value herself as a person and as a woman.

she goes through this experiences with people and learns alot about relationships, trust, sex, herself etc. then after a year... she wonders about the woman she was in love with and feels ready to meet her again, they decide to meet up.

they meet up and get to know who they are in the present, the straight woman is engaged but doesnt seem to be too excited about her engagement to this man, she is too independant and talks about her fiancee as just a regular bf. as they spend more time with eachother the straight girl feels intimidated by the gay/bisexual woman and thrilled to know her again bc she is so outgoing and she is a new woman to her... the feelings come back even stronger from the past.....

then the story can continue....

THERES AN IDEA HAHA.

one possible idea ...

Although it is an extremely controversial and horrific topic I think it would have a lot of impact if in one of the upcoming episodes you dealt with the growing problem of Lesbian Alien Abduction.

Scene for season six (Tina)

I think Tina's dad should come looking for her... He could be her long lost father. Tina's mother left Tina's dad before she was born. The father was a cheater and not a very nice man. Tina's mother told tina that her father died before she was born. Her mother decided that she could not care for Tina at a young age, so her grandparents raised her, but they passed away when Tina was in her late teens. Recently Tina's mother died leaving behind a note for Tina's dad, saying you have a daughter named Tina who lives in West LA. Tina's father shows up at their house one day. Bette answers the door, who may I ask are you, the man says I am looking for Tina. Tina comes to the door and the man tells Tina I am your father. Tina stands there in SHOCKED with tears running down her face!! Belieiving this is some cruel joke, asks the man to leave. He shows Tina the letter her mother left behind. Tina crys and looks at Bette, Bette ask the gentleman to come in. He tells Tina the whole story. For awhile she's pushes the man away, but as time goes on Bette stands by Tina's side and convinces her to except her father. Since Bette lost her father, she becomes a great support system for Tina. Eventually Tina gives in, and her father becomes a big part of Tina's,Bette's, and Angelica's life.

What we are doing here in Philadelphia to save the L Word.....

Today was Philadelphia's pride weekend. We registered in the parade Sunday. We made banners and several hundred flyers saying SAVE THE L WORD. Everyone we handed the flyers to did not know the L Word was ending. I got asked so many questions, but I am just a supporter. People were shocked for the most part and wanted to know why!!!!???? We took pics., when we get them developed I will post them. It was so nice, I sat in the back of my convertible handing out flyers, as people read the banners, they cheered/screamed and applauded for the L Word, alot ran up to get a flyer. Showtime really needs to know how many people want the L Word to go on. It was funny, people screamed what character is their favorite, one guy said I love SHANE, some girl heard and was like NO, Marina!!! The whole day was just great. Ilene really needs to do something to keep the show going, there's way too many fans to just end it. We are not ready for goodbye!!!

Reposted, and deleted... wrong post ha!

why does it have to

why does it have to end?????????

Does Ilene want the show to end????

I read a comment about giving Ilene a break and the cast. Suggesting Ilene and the cast shouldn't be pressured wit
