toronto is on the east side of canada...actually not too too far from montreal... so that will be a do-able weekend trip if you end up in toronto... i would love to go too. re-learn some french again though.. ahaha... do you know any french? but vancouver is on the west of canada... about a 5 hour plane ride away... haha... canada is a big place! and that down jacket will come in handy when snow is around ahaha. and i hear ya about spending money on a a visa and everything :)
