A friend recently called me with glowing news: she had discovered her new summer staple — a knit beret. She ordered it online, and loved it so much that she returned to buy it in another color.

Saturday, I attended Women’s Night, an annual benefit for the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center.

I’m an absolute jean fanatic. Last count, I own 42 pairs in various sizes, washes, crops and stitching designs.

Saturday was the Los Angeles GLAAD Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. I’ve been covering this event for five years and I see bigger, better and more stylish crowds with each incarnation.

There’s a fashion week happening somewhere, nearly always, as designers introduce styles that will land in our local boutiques 9-12 months later. My favorite addition to the fashion industry machine is the grouping of apparel simply labeled, “Resort.”
