Ilene,

thank you for the TLW and TiBette. Please don't let this end. We want you to continue to inspire us, this really means alot to us. It has change lives of so many people, until this very day. TLW lives on FOREVER in our hearts and always will.

August 27, 2008 - 9:51pm

You are amazing. I realize The L Word is ending, but you should seriously consider starting a new series on the same topic, very similar, or at least an L Word movie.. We need this! So bad!

You rock so hard!

As a side note, could we do away with the theme song for the last season, and have Uh Huh Her do it? It could be a remake of that song (changing it up, making it less cheesy) or an entirely new song altogether.

Hope you have a swell week! Keep on rockin' in the free world!

Ilene, from all that I have read from the fans of the L word, it is pretty clear that Bette & Tina will be getting married in season six. The one request that I ask you is that you please portray this REEL wedding with the same dignity and professionalism as the REAL life marriage of Ellen D. & Portia D.
Theirs was a Class Act.

Hey Ilene,
um i want to start by saying that the l word is a brilliant show, and it really sucks that its going to have one more season. When i heard that i teared up lol. I really feel in love with the show and you.

Hey Ilene,
thank you for the L word. It's the best TV show ever!
I have just one little question.
Could it be possible that Erin Daniels is coming back in Season 6 for a guest role or something like in Season 4? I think that would be awesome.
We all miss Dana!
Thank you for your answere.
Best wishes to you.

Hello Ilene. I was wondering if you could please check this out: http://www.esnips.com/web/Shame-Gone (scroll down and you'll see lyrics and mp3s).
It's my band's first full-lenght release and I really think it's awesome. Considering how proud I am both of our music and YOUR show, I was wondering if you could be interested in using one of our songs on TLW. For free and if you find them interesting, obviously.
I think anyone of us would be so glad to contribute to the show in some ways. Since the record was released I thought that some of our songs would fit some TLW scenes perfectly... basically 'September', ora 'Tainted', or 'Blunder', but it would be up to you.
Usually our tracks are pretty heavy, but we've been also extremely emotional on this record and it's the purest and most sincere thing we've ever created. Maybe it's a silly request but at least I won't regret I've never asked.
I know you have Betty and all, but... well, can you please consider us and let me know if you have time? Thankyou :)

Veronica - Milan, Italy

PS: here you can find our short biography: http://www.esnips.com/user/shame

My best wishes for luck and success, and happiness, of course.

P.S Ilene, I am still waiting for an answer!!!!!!!

Ilene,
You would have to agree that over the years there have been some pretty WTF moments on TLW. Since Ep.12/S5 aired there have been questions in the minds of many fans and quite a bit of discussion on other boards regarding Jodi's piece "Core."
"Core" has to rank at the top of WTF moments! The piece contained video and stills of Bette along with AUDIO that had to be recorded over a period of time during some very private moments shared between Bette and Jodi. How and why did Jodi record these moments? (Like when Bette was saying "Stop, stop" or "Leave me alone"). When did she take the still shots and when and for what purpose was she recording the audio of Bette? Come on Ilene Jodi is deaf! Why would a deaf person make AUDIO recordings of something, anything for that matter, she can't possibly hear? Further if she can't hear, how could she have put "Core" together in the first place? Was Jodi secretly recoding Bette through out their relationship? For what purpose? SHE CAN'T HEAR!!! Was she making these audio recordings so her friends could be audio voyeurs into the intimate moments she was sharing with Bette?

None of it make a bit of sense. Is there a reasonable or plausible explanation? If so many of us would love to hear it!

Ilene, several of Our Chart members asked us to past our post on to you. We feel there is an opportunity for you and your writers to further awaken the masses to the true meaning of lesbian relationships,(monogamy) commitment to love and parenting through "Tibette". Yes the L Word is pioneering, and yet there is so more left that can be done. We look to your creativity to continue bring about a positive change in society. The L Word has touched the heart, mind, and soul of more people than you may ever know. Bette and Tina, "Tibette", will continue to bring great fortune, if you use these characters for the greater good.
Jennifer Beals and Laurel Holloman are excellent actresses, brilliant together, and they are utterly believable as lesbians.

True Lesbian Love
Thanks for the opportunity to analyze our and predisposed opinions about Ilene and her writers reasoning when it comes to our overwhelming representation of true lesbian love,"Tibette". Syd and I have had many discussions as to the "why" behind Elizabeth Berkley joining the cast and the implications for the core cast member in the spin-off.

We want a Tibette wedding in season six. Gay marriage is still an issue in many states. Ilene was groundbreaking with lesbian issues in The L Word, and negative concerns about what more can be done with Bette and Tina are sometimes disheartening. Entertainment and media, more often than not, affect societies vision of lesbian love negatively. Many lesbians still fight for equal rights, for the right to love, and even to be who we are.

Syd and I have been together 11 years, and if either of us were to come out professionally it would be catastrophic to our careers and our family's financial stability. Many lesbians can relate to not being able to openly love and marry whomever you choose. Well, we feel the L Word has an opportunity through Bette and Tina's love to not only explore gay marriage, but also gay parenting in a positive light. As a success story, it happens.

We've grown past tired with the Bette serial cheater theme, when Bette is far more than that. She is a successful biracial lesbian that has the power to change the perceptions of many, and for many she has. Many lesbians have the love she has for Tina, and like Bette could not find it with anyone else. They both were flailing, so why not let them marry and show parenting from that lesbian perspective? Ilene surely must be able to relate to this, and if it's thought that the storyline isn't marketable. We beg to differ. True lesbian life and love is a journey worth exploring all avenues, turns, detours, and revealations. Tibette has finally been allowed to show and give us that.

We believe flashbacks into Tina's family history, and their first seven years together would be ideal for episodes in season 6 as they plan their wedding. Maybe the Berkley character could be a viable part of that, but any inkling of her being another concubine for Bette is repulsive and degrading to all accomplished. Bette professed her love for Tina in season 5, and Tina professed her love for Bette. They've been through enough emotional relationship hell.

Real love exists between a multitude of lesbian couples. Many of whom still haven't been granted the right to marry and openly show their love for each other. Many of whom have children, biological, and adoptive that present a plethora of issues still needing to be addressed.

Hi Ilene,

I know this may come across as "hateful" even "threatening" (some may say). However I find myself starting to wonder if the rumors are just rumors or is there truth to them, and this leads to such anger, sadness & disillusionment, which are just a few of the emotions I find myself feeling, and all for The Love of who we affectionately call Tibette.

It is rumored that you will be creating havoc in their relationship again, and they may separate for good by the end of Season 6. If not you are gonna create the atmosphere for cheating/temptation for either one or the other, and if this is so how on earth are you gonna let us see them process this in just 8 episodes.......maybe it will be like all the other scenes where we, the faithful viewers are left to wonder WTF happened between last weeks episode and this weeks.

Tina and Bette have come such along way been through so much, for them to walk off into the proverbial sunset with anyone else but each other. It would be just cruel to your T/B fans to do that. I know this is your "baby" and you will do whatever it is you desire with them, and heck I know that I will accept this when and if that time comes.

I am thankful for your creativity in giving us The L Word and more importantly Tina and Bette (cause they are the MAIN reason I watch, even when you had them in shit street for so long). With this said after sitting and faithfully watching the going ons of Season 6, I will then know if any of my time will be invested in watching anything you create again. After all, someone can only handle disappointment from the same person for so long. Again as I mentioned above, this is not meant to be threatening, it is just how I find myself feeling, and as I have come to experience, words written by one and read by another may not be interpreted the same.

Again I thank you for The L word.

Peace,
Superd.

Ilene, isn't it possible to extend the season six from 8 episodes to 12 episodes, am sure there is enough material to write in for the full season, what with the introduction of new characters and wrapping up existing storylines. What with the cast and all being there in Canada, would require a month more of work right?? Please please please give a full season for the end and a Tibette wedding!!

Ilene, in regards to the new series, would there happen to be any sort of open casting call? haha I know that you're probably in the process of casting (or already finished) and you probably have a slew of Hollywood starlets throwing themselves (or, perhaps their agents are) at your feet to be included in whatever projects you choose to put forth in the future, but I figured it never hurts to ask, so here it is: Would you ever consider entertaining the idea of some unknown talents for the new show?
Either way, I think your work is brilliant, and thank you so much for The L Word. I know you hear this all the time, but it truly has changed my life and my outlook on my world.

Alright...I don't mean to be a pain in the @#$%^ but here's another song that sums up Jenny's current situation (again for a clip go to cdbaby.com / bronwyn / cd: awakening (see other note). It's called "Without Me". Stark piano (think of a music box: "walking around in circles").

Without Me, by Bronwyn Werner (c) 2003
I'm sitting on a rock my head in my hands I'm tired of walking in circles. I'm hungry for my life wond'ring when it's going to start or did it get tired of waiting and leave Without Me.

I'm weary and wary of strangers who used to be my friends I don't think I knew them very well. They were just pretending and I ignored the signs of danger. When darkness intervened they were gone.

Now I'm vacant, staring into the headlights of my future; frozen braced waiting for the impact. I'm listening for the answers to bubble up within or did they float away and leave Without Me.

BY THE WAY...I LOVE THE SHOW. You have truly been a TV and social pioneer and Jennifer Beals is one of the most magnificent, underrated actors I have ever seen. You have allowed those of us "in the community" to see ourselves for the first time reflected in the beautiful mirror you have held up for us, thus validating our lives. For the broader society, you have helped obliterate stereotypes and misperceptions by replacing the abstract, incendiary concept of "lesbianism" with tangible (quite beautiful) faces. Thank you, Bronwyn.

More Green, Intoxicate Me and That Night are three songs I think you should hear with themes that have been (and still are) interwoven throughout the various plots of the L Word: romantic regret (More Green), toxic desire (Intoxicate Me), exhilaration of love's first moments (That Night). They are very sultry, jazzy, thematic and dramatic.... There is no option to attached them to this note so you can go to CDBaby.com to hear clips of them online from my CD listed under the name "Bronwyn" & the cd is entitled "Awakening" (recorded long before Melissa Etheridge's new CD).

The words to all three songs are below. I know it's wishful thinking but if you (collectively) could give me some feedback about their viability on your show or elsewhere, please do so.
Here are the words (wait 'til you hear the music!!):
"More Green", by Bronwyn E. Werner (c) 2003
I thought if you were gone I would be free. But fate has played an awful joke on me. When you were in my arms, I was a fool for another's charms. More Green I thought another's grass might be.
The cord with which you bound your love to me, I cast away to drown in misery. When will I ever learn I push away, away, these things I yearn to find the paradise I sacrificed More Green.
Once you were my dream come true, I never knew. Now you're just that dream I threw away, the other side of paradise is grey. Once you were in love with me. I was so blind I could not see it. With eyes wide open now you're only my dream. More Green, More Green, More Green....

Intoxicate Me, By Bronwyn E. Werner (c) 2003
You intoxicate me. The wine is yours to pour. It's poison to my lips, yes but only for one sip, can I die for you once more?
Like a little red balloon, so close yet out of reach, 'til deflated on the floor you gasp "I'm yours forever more...or until you're mine to keep".
Will you flay my heart in ribbons like those days when we were young? So I can feel alive will you torment me just for fun? Why do I hate to love you then love you anyway? Why do I love how you don't love me until I walk away?
You intoxicate me...The wine is yours to pour. It's poison to my lips, ah but only for one sip...can I die for you once more. You intoxicate.....

That Night, By Bronwyn E. Werner (c)
Under the stars I held you tight. We danced together all That Night. A magnetism in the air, passion in your stare, That Night.
I could not sleep when I got home. I went to bed all alone, that night. Dreaming of passion in the air, your coy hypnotic stare, That Night.
I knew the moment the moment that I met you. I felt the magic in your smile. That indescribable sensation...that je ne sais quois.
Under the stars I held you tight we danced together all That Night. A magnetism in the air your coy hypnotic stare That night, That night, That night.

Thanks for reading and listening...Bronwyn.

Lets get an Aussie character in the mix...
I would love to see a little bit of my nation represented.

Lets call her Allora Rose...Big green eyes/dark brown redish hair...knows that she is gay but hasn't had a relationship with a women due to the fear of her small towns ultimate rejection of her.

She's a young folk singer/guitarist from outback Perth, Western Australia...
Who comes to L.A looking to launch her singing or art career..but most of all, after hearing about the lesbain lifestyle of L.A, to get away from all the prejudices in her own town...

She knows who she is and wants to live that out in a fresh new place. She isn't running away.

Kit can give her a gig at 'The Planet' one night which leads to her completely captivating the audience, especially Alice. A short introduction on who she is and what she's doing in L.A and a sample of her rusty 'The Waifs' like folk music, Aussie black chesty bonds singlet and country jeans, leaves Alice wanting to get to know this girl.

OR

Allora arrives in L.A (guitar case in one hand) and begins to work for a lawn mowing service. When Bette needs some yard maintenance, in comes Allora. It only takes a walk through Bette and Tina's house for Allora to realise that she has heard about the famous Bette Porter (in all her glory). Excited about the prospect of Bette being able to help her have her artwork recognised, Allora searches for a way to have a chat with Bette
After reading about an interactive seminar Bette Porter is running, Allora decides to attend in hoping she can seek advice on how to get her large scale Aboriginal artwork displayed at a museum. Due to Bette's heightened status in the art world, after the 'Core' stunt, it is clear that Allora has something special when Bette gives her the time of day even though this 'explorer' sock wearing girl is 'not of (her) caliber, dear...'

She can relate to Bette because her mother's an Aborignal women (Indigenous Australian) and her Dad is Irish..Making her also a bi-racial lesbain who has faced the harsh judgement of the unexcepting world and the ongoing search for self identification.
Her anglo-saxon apparence consistently has people questioning her about creating Aboriginal artworks...unaware, due to the colour of her skin, that she is half Aboriginal.
Bette's interest in Allora's artwork and life story leads to her meeting Alice...
and charming the pants off her...
with her fun, cheeky, adventurous, rugged Aussie girl charm..

Alice and Allora can move to Oz..

I don't know if this charater has potential, but read that 'The L Word' look to ideas from viewers occasionally. =D

i would love shane and jenny to be together but i would love event more if there came more seasons than just 6 the l-word helped so many people coming out and it has great story lines and a great cast.
all over the world the l-word is famous you shouldn't throw it away that easily..

July 5, 2008 - 6:56am

if you actually go through most forums, you'll realise majority of us are strongly against the ridiculous idea of a Shenny hook up. they're almost like sisters!! jenny made up for Shane's lack of family love. when kate french's character was first introduced, i was pretty skeptical it was ever gonna create any sparks with Mia's character. But unbelievably, they bonded soo well its hard to see them apart now!! Many of us are saying that Jenny & Nikki reminds us of a young Bette & Tina. I wasn't into Jenny in the previous two seasons, but after you injected Nikki into the picture, all of a sudden Jenny seems a changed person, soo full of hope and inspiration!! it just made me so addicted to them both, but i believe after everything that Jenny has gone through since S1, she deserves something good. simple and true. I believe Nikki's young but given a bit more time and soul searching, the two of them will be able to make it! so i hope you give us something we've all wanted to see Ilene, saving all that backlash (especially since most of us have already been wildly disappointed the show is coming to an end soon...) what most of us will hope for now, will be a beautiful ending to each of our favorite characters to leave on a memorable closure to The Amazing L Word!!! L for LOVE.

July 3, 2008 - 6:48pm

Dear IC,

AS REQUESTED BY MOST OF US.... (and even the actors themselves I heard)

I hope IC DOES NOT make a wrong move by putting on a Shenny display. We're rooting for Nikki & Jenny's relationship to strengthen after all these ordeals, and hope for IC to present this beautiful sight to us. After all that The L Word has been through, there shouldn't be anymore infidelity, confusion, give ups, etc, there should be more about how the characters find themselves, work on it and make something magical happen. This is what we audiences really wanna see.
DEFINITELY NO GO FOR SHENNY -
Everyone knows they're best friends and have never gone beyond the platonic, genuinely heartfelt friendship. I think it is really rare The L Word managed to string together a strong bond between two good friends who love and care for one another without an agenda in mind. Being able to confide and console each other during difficult times (E.g: how Shane was there for Jenny, hanging out smoking pot after she suffered Adele's betrayal.... and how she was there for Jenny when she had problems with Nikki). I think after all the bad relationships IC had put Jenny through, the one best move they made was installing Shane's character for Jenny to fall back on always. That's what true friends are for. This is something a best friend is able to give unconditionally, while a lover might not.
Like what Alice said to Dana a few seasons back, "she can't even talk to her bestfriend now." (when faced with problems with Dana, her lover and ex-bestfriend. Therefore, it won't be an ideal move if IC decides to pull a Shenny.
To be able to achieve something good (building it up over seasons) and then go on and sabotage it is a disaster!! It's just like the writers work so hard to put together such a genuine friendship display, but eventually being thrown back to square one. Sex, love, lust. I think there is really just a fine line between friendship and relationship and IC has pulled both off... for now, unless she's gonna cross that line. Because a true friendship bond between specific characters, is something The L Word has not yet managed to positively convey. IN BOLD!!

MAKE JENNIKKI SOMETHING WE'D DIE FOR!!! IC, URE A SMART WOMAN!

Dear Ilene,

My friend introduces me the show The L Word and it got me addicted. I became more updated than my friend. The show is really amazing...

So...i heard that Season 6 will be the last season of the L word??? why??? sad.... :(

well...i hope to get the best from the best of season 6.

take care always...

June 26, 2008 - 3:50pm

Hi Ilene.
Here are what I love to see in the L Word.

1. Tina's dirty and sexy talk in love scenes with Bette
Tina's dirty talk to Bette in Season 5 Episode 6 was amazingly hot hot hot... I think it made the scene very special. Tina has grown and become so much confident in the relationship. Bette has become a lot softer in communicating with Tina.

2. Bette and Alice's comedy moments
The talks between Bette and Alice about Phyllis in Season 4 were hilarious. Alice is a champ of comedy! Bette is usually serious but it was so amazing to see a comedy chemistry between Alice and Bette.

3. Shane's soft sides
I love to see a softer side of Shane. It does not mean her complete personality change. For instance, in love scenes Shane is usually a giver (on top!?), but I would like to see a bit of her vulnerability.

I love the show. Good luck on shooting the new season.

Hi, I so can't wait for season 6. When is the promo coming out?
Here is an idea for a storyline since shane screwed things up with jenny and tasha and alice seem to be in trouble, have shane and tasha comfort each other. Talk out their feelings to each other. I do think both need to let themselves feel some emotion. Plus I think kate and rose are hot together and need more scenes together. Have papi come back and hook up with kit again.

Looking forward to S6!

I cannot wait for the 2009 L word winter. (I am honored to be your 6404th friend.)

Your show has changed my life. And you have let others know that we are not alone. Not all of us are fortunate enough to be in a convenient location where holding your partner's hand in public isnt necessarily frowned upon. I have found friends in the characters and sometimes need a reminder that they arent real. It'll break my heart when the show is over. And I wont know what to do with myself when it ends. lol. I wish one day I could meet the cast and tell them how appreciative I am, but, of course, that isnt realistic. I just think its a shame that a show that opened people's minds will end.

The message to young girls who exercise, eat right and follow the regime of medicines should be a positive message that yes you can beat this horrible disease. Instead the message was no matter what you do to take care of yourself, you are fucked..So forget everything the medical profession has taught us. Ilene I think you really screwed up with this story line.

Hey Ilene!
Please, Carmen NEEDS to come back! The final won't be perfect if Shane doesnt't meet Carmen again :/ Carmen was the first girl that Shane felt in love with, and this kind of girl (Shane) doesen't love two times, not with the same strength!

ps: If Sarah doesn't accept it, duplicate her salary :D
