Sign Up For BE SCENE at The Dinah!

Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend is almost here. And you know what that means—it’s time for another round of BE SCENE Presented by OurChart.com. This is your chance to hone your acting chops in front of Katherine Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Ilene Chaiken, Elizabeth Keener, Alexandra Hedison and thousands of screaming fans. That’s right—BE SCENE is a competition where teams act out their favorite scenes from The L Word to be judged by the cast and crew of the show! Fabulous prizes will be awarded to the best two teams as well as the best actress. Plus, the breakthrough performances will go down in history when they become part of an OurChart webseries this spring.
Are you ready to Be Scene? To win a spot on the stage, follow the steps below:
Step One: Pick your team
1) Teams must consist of at least 2 but no more than 5 people.
2) Individuals may only enter to compete on one team.
3) All team members must be attending Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend on April 5, 2008 and provide their own travel and accommodations.
4) All team members must be 21 years of age or older and US residents.
5) All team members must be members of OurChart.com.
Step Two: Pick your scene
The video player below contains six scenes. Watch them all and decide which scene your team would like to perform.*
Step Three: Get creative!
With your team, come up with an answer (in 50 words or less) to the question below. The teams behind the top ten most creative, original and entertaining replies will be selected to compete.**
If you were Tina in Scene 6 below, what advice would you have given to Bette about how to win Jodi back?
Step Four: Send us your info
Designate one person on your team to serve as captain and email us at bescene.contest@gmail.com with the following:
1) Team name.
2) First and last names of everyone on your team.
3) OurChart usernames of everyone on your team. If you're not a member click here!
4) The telephone, email address and mailing address of your team captain.
5) The scene number your team would like to perform. (One and only one please!)
6) Your answer (in 50 words or less) to the question!
HURRY! Registration closes at 11:59 PM PST on March 23, 2008. All entry emails must be received by this time.
BE SCENE Presented by OurChart.com will be held at the Doral Resort Grand Ballroom, Doral Hotel at 67-697 Vista Chino Way in Palm Springs, California at 7 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2008.
*Judges may assign a different scene to you depending on number of teams selecting the same scene.
**Five alternate teams will be selected in addition to the ten winning teams. Captains of the fifteen teams will be contacted on or before March 26, 2008 with detailed instructions for participation. Should your team be selected to compete, ALL team members will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release, and Performer's Release as provided by OurChart.com.

All my friends are refusing to do this (for one reason or another) as well... I've always wondered what it's like to act (that's right, I have never done it for those of you requiring experienced partners), but i think this would be fun. I always make things with my hands, or rather with clicking the mouse, I think it would be fun to 'make' with voice and body for a change.
Anyways, I am putting this up to see if I hear from anyone who might also be interested and in need of a partner. As of the moment i could be persuaded to do any of the scenes, including multiple characters at once (for example the whole left side of the table @ the whore scene) and so on...
Please, only write if you are serious and already going to the Dinah. Thanks.

I'm meeting my best friend in Cali, but we'd look rediculous doing it together. We're both Shane-like so...thatd be awkward! season 6...the end?
Oh god please no...This show has broadened my horizons, and has taught me alot of things in life. I finally had a show to relate to in my life. Something away from the usually male on female sex scene, and their bullshit relationships... this show gave me love!! Ive cried....Ive laughed...Ive fallen in love all over again with my partner with this show. Please I beg you with every ounce of my being....i cant let go of the L Word yet....

They should hold an european version of Be Scene at the Starfury Conventions (L4, L5, in the UK). Even if for fun, no prizes and whatnot, i don't recall the E.U. laws being so strict. Anyway.. Peace out.
P.S. Having acted for 4 years i would have loved having a go at the contest, but considering i live in europe, tough on me, huh?

i'll be seriously shocked if you're not inundated with potential Shanes for your Carmen!
but this brings up a good point for all the other wannabe applicants out there - if you're short on team members and want to solicit your neighbors for help, this is the place to do it.

when I found out that season 6 is going to be the last season of the show it devastated me. Why in the world end it? You know what... I can't even describe how upset I feel about this whatever :-(

I know it's the place to be heard - this site is really to be for US residents only too - because of legal reasons. But I love our international members :)
because of winnings, other countries have other laws of winnings and it's this HUGE thing to do a world wide competition and get approval from the other countries, through contracts. They'd love to include non-US residents, but international laws are preventing it...
Too bad they couldn't do this special non-resident voting, where it's streamed live just for you guys. And some how you could actually take part in the voting - like the majority would count as 1 judge vote.
I mean, I'd be jealous of that...

As a matter of fact and for the specific point of the "be scene" i don't understand they are oblige to have winnings. It should be un and a wit feast (don't fall in pettifogging attitude): it just a moment of drama it's not just like the writing episode contest with copyright and money earnings ...
The foreigners versions could be very interesting, at the beginning because of the specific accent of each competitor but also because our cultures are not the same and the interpretations could benifit of that....
is there a bailiff for this competition and anti doping control such specific to the US ???
I digress, but here we used to say you americans do use lawyers for everything, even things for the moment is outside of this kind of procedure in most european country : i'm a little bit afraid because our "little" president, Sarkozy, who's is by the side a business lawyer, want to reach the american way to manage civilian society : and in this pecular point, i'm not so sure the expansion of law procedures should be good for us : at least for the peculiar cas, we discuss, it leads to stupid exclusion.
a good idea could be : all non us potential noncompetitors could make videos of the chosen scene and post it on oc...

I'm really surprise to see that this BE SCENE contest will be open only for US resident! We are a lot of lesbians out of america, you know! And we can travel and go to dinahshore...and we do a lot of miles to come and we can't participate! Ilene, could you do something to include a little beat more international lesbian community in the ourchart community?
